General Purpose of Job

The Senior Research Scientist will lead and support R&D and technical application activities related to chemical intermediates, specialty chemicals and formulated chemical solutions for high‑tech industries including semiconductors, advanced packaging, electro-optic display.

This role partners closely with Commercial, Marketing, and Synthesis teams to translate industry needs into differentiated solutions, ensuring alignment between technology development and business growth priorities      

             

Prioritized Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Safety
    • Ensure all laboratory and technical support activities fully comply with Huntsman’s EH&S policies and local regulatory requirements.
    • Drive continuous improvement in safety practices, risk assessments, and operational discipline.
  • R&D Project Execution
    • Design and conduct laboratory evaluations to identify value propositions of existing or new products for target applications, such as semiconductor process of cleaning, etching, lithography, and CMP‑related applications.
    • Generate high quality application data packages to support product promotion, customer trials, and internal decision making.
    • Conduct technical scouting and analyze industry technology trends, customer roadmaps, and unmet needs.
    • Collaborate with synthesis and global technology teams to develop new molecules, materials, and application technologies for next generation semiconductors and display manufacturing processes.
  • Technical Support for Business Growth
    • Provide high impact technical service to regional customers, including troubleshooting, onsite support, technical presentations, and sample evaluations.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, enabling joint development opportunities and early engagement in customer technology roadmaps.
    • Work with commercial teams and distributors to deliver timely, accurate feedback on technical inquiries and customer requirements.
    • Support business promotion by participating in industry conferences, seminars, and roadshows; co develop product positioning and promotional materials with Marketing.

Education and Experience                                                                                    

  • Master or PhD degree in Microelectronics, Integrated Circuit, Electronics Science, Chemistry/Applied Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science or other chemical-related fields.
  • Preferred majors relevant to semiconductor manufacturing and wet‑process chemistry
  • Preferred chemical industry experience in semiconductor wet process, CMP, lithography or etch related
  • Minimum 5 years’ industry experience and MNC company working experience is preferable.

Specific Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of semiconductors or adjacent industries (IC fabrication, advanced packaging, OLED).
  • Solid foundation in Microelectronics, Organic chemistry, Material science or Polymer science.
  • Familiar with processing chemicals or chemical solutions used in wafer cleaning, surface preparation, etching or photoresist processes.  
  • Ability to independently plan, execute, and manage technical workstreams.
  • Strong capability in analyzing experiments, deriving insights, and communicating results in a clear, structured manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and solve problems with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in both Mandarin and English, written and oral.
