The Role

The Role

This position joins the Delivery and Nucleic Acid Analytical Research group within Delivery Science and is responsible for execution and optimization of a range of analytical techniques and methods to ensure robust and thorough characterization of our lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) and nucleic acids. 
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with a variety of instruments and lab techniques, following established procedures, continuously identifying and driving improvements, and takes pride in delivering a quality product with clear documentation. 

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Plan and execute experiments utilizing a suite of analytical techniques for the characterization of nucleic acids and LNPs in an accurate, consistent, and timely manner

  • Conduct stability studies to evaluate drug substance and drug product shelf life

  • Execute analytical techniques including HPLC, FACE, DSC, ITC, SAXS, and general characterization methods 

  • Utilize automated laboratory robotics to enable high-throughput workflows

  • Process, input, and maintain large volumes of analytical and sample data

  • Maintain and troubleshoot lab instrumentation 

  • Identify and propose solutions to opportunities for improvement in business processes and technical workflows

  • Maintain good documentation including electronic lab notebooks and technical reports

  • Contribute to knowledge management efforts through generation and review of operating protocols and templates

  • Communicate and collaborate with researchers and scientists across disciplines

  • Manage materials and consumables for lab-based projects

  • Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • BS or MS in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, biology or related field

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a laboratory environment

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • MS in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, biology or related field

  • 2+ years of biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience 

  • Experience working with drug delivery, nanoparticle formulations, and or nucleic acids is a plus

  • Knowledge or experience working with automated and robotic systems is a plus

  • Programming experience is a plus

  • Self-motivation and commitment to excellence, results, and innovation

  • Flexibility and adaptability to frequent change

  • Data driven mindset, strong critical and analytical thinking

  • Effective communication, both written and verbal
