Automation Senior Research Associates (SRA) are responsible for developing and maintaining the laboratory automation solutions which are essential to Abcam R&D delivering thousands of new products to catalogue each year. In this role, you will work with cross functional teams to develop and validate automation solutions, deploy these into the lab and maintain/optimize as needed.
This position reports to the VP of Research & Innovation, located in Cambridge and will be on-site. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Develop automation solutions to include; gathering and documenting requirements, performing proof of concept testing and supporting the building, validation and deployment of solutions.
Support the implementation of bespoke automation hardware and software which form components of the overall automation solution. These maybe developed internally or with outsourced partners.
Work with the lab teams to gather feedback on automation, propose and implement improvements.
The essential requirements of the job include:
A BSc and/or MSc. in a life sciences discipline and 1-2 years of laboratory experience post studies.
Experience with laboratory automation, in particular liquid handling and associated software.
Programming experience, ideally with python, in a laboratory setting. Ability to work collaboratively in matrix settings, both within the organization and with external partners
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
<5% travel – infrequent, may be required to travel to visit Abcam and Danaher sites
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
A life sciences, pharma or biopharma company
