We are seeking a Senior Reliability Lab Operation Engineer with extensive experience in managing product reliability excellence, design and build robust testers/fixtures, ensure equipment uptime and calibration integrity, drive cost‑effective supplier/vendor performance, and support fast, accurate reliability validations for POS devices.
This role requires a deep understanding of electromechanical consumer systems, strong development skills and a proven ability to lead and collaborate within a cross-functional team environment and supplier management. In this role will manage CWs to fulfill the lab operation excellence needs.
What you will do:
Tester & Fixture Development
- Design & build testers and fixtures (mechanical and electrical) for POS new features
- Develop automation for repeatable test execution:
- Integrate DAQ, load cells, displacement sensors, counters
- Write scripts for test sequencing, data logging, and safety interlocks
- DFX for fixtures:
- Modularity and interchangeability of wear parts
- Gauge R&R planning and verification
- Documentation:
- Test method SOPs and calibration procedures
Lab Operations, Preventive Maintenance & Calibration
- Plan and execute PM schedules for lab equipment/instruments including environmental chambers, auto transaction tester,, drop testers, force gauges, durability tools, meters, sensors.
- Periodically Calibration management:
- Maintain an asset registry (ID, model, serial, calibration due dates, traceability)
- Coordinate internal and external calibration to ISO/IEC 17025 traceability
- Perform interim checks (daily/weekly verification with standards)
- Repair & troubleshooting:
- Diagnose electrical/mechanical issues; replace wear parts, sensors, relays
- Liaise with OEMs for repair quotes, parts ordering, firmware updates
- Compliance & safety:
- Ensure EHS protocols (lock‑out/tag‑out, chamber safety, vibration rig guarding)
- Keep calibration certificates, PM records, and deviation logs audit‑ready
Supplier/Vendor Management
- Qualify and manage fixture makers, machine shops, calibration labs, and equipment vendors.
- SOW and specs:
- Write technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and FAT/SAT plans
- Track lead times, on‑time delivery, NCRs, and corrective actions
- Cost & quality optimization:
- Negotiate pricing for fixtures, jigs, and spares
- Drive vendor capability upgrades (materials, surface treatments, tolerances)
- Incoming quality control:
- Inspect fixtures/equipment upon receipt; run acceptance tests and GR&R
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent. Master’s preferred for senior roles
5+ years; proven record of end‑to‑end fixture development, vendor management, and lab systemization
- Fixture/mechanism design: proficiency with SolidWorks/Creo, tolerance stack‑ups, fasteners, surface treatments (anodizing, nitriding), wear mitigations.
- Instrumentation: load cells, thermocouples, encoders, torque/force gauges, environmental chambers, shakers, drop testers, DAQ.
- Metrology & calibration: ISO/IEC 17025 traceability, gauge R&R, MSA fundamentals.
- Documentation: SOPs, test methods, calibration procedures, drawing/BOM control;
- Rel lab layout and planning: Layout, resource planning, facilities requirements
- Strong ownership and hands‑on troubleshooting
- Clear written/verbal communication (Chinese & English preferred)
- Vendor negotiation and cross‑functional collaboration (HW, ME, Quality, SQE, NPI)
- Up to 30% travelling is required
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiar with POS reliability testing
- Good communication and technical based negotiation experience;
- Familiarity with FA process on enclosure, PCBA, and/or Battery and TDM.
