Job Description SummaryThe Senior Regional Customer Application Engineer (RCAE) serves as a critical technical focal between GEV Gas Power and China partners and customers, bridges between region and HQ engineering for what region/customer needs and what offers GEV and partners have, specializing in Gas Turbine and Combined-Cycle power plant applications, provides technical leadership to regional teams throughout the pre Inquiry-to-Order process, building pipelines of potential opportunities for Gas Turbine Combined Cycle products. This role strategically influences customer economic evaluation criteria for Gas Turbine Combined Cycle Power Generation CAPEX and OPEX investments, leads with minimal resource requirements and be capable to expand team of professionals when business needs.

Job Description

‌Essential Responsibilities:‌

  • Actively position GEV's Heavy Duty Gas Turbine Combined Cycle solutions during early project phases by collaborating with partners, design institutes, developers and customers to maximize value creation. Influence the development of China strategy, including allocation of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Provide technical leadership to China Sales and Commercial Operations in Gas Turbine Combined Cycle product selection and competitive application development, conduct comprehensive performance estimations and competitive analysis in LCID for GEV Gas Turbine Combined Cycle equipment and systems during pre-ITO process.
  • Develop China-specific marketing materials highlighting GEV offerings' value, ensure the product value propositions are properly framed for communication and well measured against competition. Effectively communicate the complete economic value proposition to design institutes and customers, maintain expertise in energy market structures, pricing mechanisms, and policies affecting customer value propositions.
  • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work. Capture regional Voice of Customer and Voice of Market insights regarding flexible Gas Turbine Combined Cycle solutions, supporting New Product Introduction initiatives.
  • Align with HQ Product Management team and share the latest Gas Turbine product features information with partners HTC & NTC. Support sales team on the key account connection with GENCO HQs. Be flexible to support ITO activities to meet business needs.
  • Dynamically understand the changing business demands, adopt, work hands on across Application engineering value stream boundaryless to deliver the results

‌Qualifications/Requirements:‌

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering
  • 10+ years of combined marketing/engineering experience with strong technical and commercial expertise in gas power industries, demonstrated Knowledge of gas turbine and combined cycle systems, rich experience on China power market, understand market needs and trends, deep understanding of power plant economics
  • Strategic thinking and proven analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English
  • Self-motivated with ability to collaborate in global teams
  • Ability to adapt real-time to rapidly changing environments, willing to learn and support
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multi levels of organization
  • Leadership skills to develop, expand team of professionals when business needs

‌Desired Characteristics:‌

  • Experience with Utilities, IPPs, Project Developers or Public Utility Commissions in economic lifecycle modeling
  • Ability to guide and lead others not in a direct reporting relationship
  • Leading with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity to meet the goals
  • Ability to evaluate price/performance decisions' impact on stakeholders
  • Proficiency in thermal performance tools (GTPro, Gatecycle, Ebsilon, etc.)
  • Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of application engineering, uses multiple internal and external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision to support business operation
