Your teamYou'll join the Platform team that powers IG's product engineering in UK – owning shared services, infrastructure, and frontend capabilities.
We champion engineering excellence and continuously evolve our platform, so product-aligned teams can focus obsessively on customers and commercial outcomes.
Your work will increase the impact of every engineer building for our clients.
Your primary responsibility will be to lead the development of complex web applications for our award-winning trading platforms — and take ownership of how they're built, deployed, and served to clients.
You'll build performant web solutions, while also understanding the infrastructure that delivers them — from CI/CD pipelines through to CDN configuration and cloud deployments.
You'll work as a hands-on practitioner who leads by example while mentoring others in the team.
You'll leverage AI-assisted development tools as a core part of your workflow — we expect engineers to actively embrace AI to multiply their impact.
Think and act like an owner — your code directly enable traders to seize market opportunities.
Lead the development of complex web features for our award-winning trading platforms, ensuring optimal performance, accessibility, and user experience
Understand and maintain cloud infrastructure for web deployments (e.g. static site hosting on AWS (CloudFront, S3, Route 53)
Design and optimise CI/CD pipelines for web applications, improving build speed, deployment reliability, and release confidence
Implement and tune HTTP caching strategies, CDN configurations, and performance optimisations that deliver lightning-fast experiences to traders worldwide
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including backend engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver features that drive business growth and champion the client
Actively participate in product development, from requirements discussions to seeing customers using your software in production
Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical decision-making that shapes our web development and deployment standards – raising the bar across the team
Own end-to-end delivery of features – from technical design through deployment and infrastructure – taking accountability for performance, reliability, and user experience
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and stay at the cutting edge of modern engineering practices
Think big about our web architecture – challenge the status quo, propose improvements, and help shape the technical direction of our web platforms and their supporting infrastructure
For this role, we're looking for someone with:
5+ years of professional React development experience with a proven track record of delivering production web applications – not just React knowledge, but deep, hands-on experience building and shipping real products
Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, modern React patterns (hooks, server components, suspense), state management, and web platform fundamentals
Experience with setting up and managing deployments of web applications – you've done this, not just read about it
Strong understanding of HTTP caching – you know when to cache, where to cache, and how to invalidate without breaking things
Battle-tested experience measuring and optimising web application performance – you've profiled, diagnosed, and fixed real performance bottlenecks in production
Experience building and optimising CI/CD pipelines for web deployments – you care about build speed, deployment stability, and developer experience
Experience with real-time data handling, WebSocket connections, and high-frequency data updates
Experience with AI-assisted development tools – we're looking for engineers who see AI as a force multiplier, not a threat
Excellent problem-solving skills with a quality-first, ownership mindset — you build it, you deploy it, you run it, you love it
An AI-positive mindset — you see AI tools as amplifiers of engineering capability, not replacements, and you're excited to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI-assisted development
Strong commitment to engineering excellence: TDD, code reviews, observability, and continuous improvement are how you operate, not boxes you tick
Strong English-language communication skills and the ability to work effectively in globally distributed, cross-functional teams
A keen interest in ongoing learning, both business and technical — you'll gain deep understanding of IG's trading products and financial markets
Familiarity with financial services or trading platforms is highly desirable but not essential
This is a hybrid position (3 days onsite, 2 days remote work)
