Senior R&D Manager – Software (Smith & Nephew, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA) Multiple openings: Translate business, product, quality and regulatory requirements into product software architecture. Ensure the software meets time to market requirements, is scalable, serviceable, has the required level of security and meets availability (uptime) requirements. Ensure architecture is extensible to ensure integration of third-party systems such as EMR Software. Lead and supervise the engineering team to drive product delivery and enhancements for all applications in the Ri.Knee (Real Intelligence Knee) product portfolio. Lead and supervise the team of engineers and architects that drive development of robotic knee arthroplasty products. Work with management to ensure organizational design is aligned with software architecture. Responsible for the team of engineers that ensure architectural governance and quality of design, code etc. is fully aligned with architecture and this governance would be effectuated by design reviews, code reviews and tools to enable this. Foster and ensure a work environment inline with S&N pillars of excellence. Recognize talent and development opportunities within the team.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related field plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or related role in biomedical engineering or robotics applications industry OR a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related field plus 5 years of post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related role in biomedical engineering or robotics applications industry.
Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in each of the following if qualifying with the Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of experience in each of the following if qualifying with the Master’s degree.
- Software design and development
- Developing software for robotic system
Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience in each of the following:
- Developing software computer vision tracking applications
- Developing software for a regulated product in the medical or aviation industries.
- Software development in C++
- Software development on Unix or Linux operating systems.
- Developing products for knee arthroplasty surgeries.
Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in developing products subject to HIPAA/GDPR regulatory frameworks.
