At Philips, we believe there’s always a way to make life better. As a Senior Sustaining R&D Engineer, you will drive improvements to existing products to reduce cost, improve manufacturing efficiency, and resolve quality issues.
This role leads product and process improvement projects from concept through implementation while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, corporate policies, and plant procedures. The position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to sustain and enhance commercial products.
Your RoleNavigate Design Control from design requirements through verification/validation and manufacturing implementation.
Evaluate and implement product design and manufacturing changes.
Lead and support sustaining engineering activities for commercial products.
Apply statistical analysis and structured problem-solving to support product acceptance and root cause investigations.
Design and analyze basic experiments and DOE studies.
Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Develop technical documentation including test plans, reports, and design verification/validation deliverables.
Provide guidance to technicians and operators executing procedures.
Contribute to design documentation including DHF updates and technical design reviews.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, and external vendors.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Electrical, Biomedical, or Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in a regulated environment.
Experience with manufacturing engineering and process validation.
Knowledge of design control and regulatory requirements.
Strong analytical, organizational, and project leadership skills.
Proficiency with SolidWorks, Minitab, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
Fluent in Spaish and good level English (written and verbal).
And nice to have
Experience with C++ or Python programming.
Experience with guidewire and catheter design and manufacturing.
Experience with sensor technology and testing.
Familiarity with cardiology catheterization procedures and terminology.
Knowledge of Philips IGT Devices product lines (internal candidates).
How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
