The Mechatronics Engineer is part of a multidisciplinary team who are responsible for developing and refining products and processes for use in the automated logistics industry. The Mechatronics Engineer is largely focused on electrical & electromechanical design but is also engaged in aspects of mechanical & controls design.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:Electrical Design & Analysis
- Assist in the design of control panels, cables, and control stations.
- Perform system and component-level calculations for sizing and protection (e.g., conductor sizing, voltage drop, motor starters, short circuit protection).
- Apply standard engineering methods and follow established design processes and standards.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop and execute test plans, conduct risk analyses, and validate equipment functionality through hands-on testing.
- Support continuous improvement by evaluating existing design processes and implementing enhancements.
Research & Innovation
- Explore and test electromechanical technologies to support product development.
- Contribute to design guidelines and help automate repetitive CAD and design tasks.
- Utilize AI tools to improve productivity and efficiency.
Collaboration & Learning
- Engage with cross-functional teams and actively participate in knowledge sharing.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn new technologies and engineering practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Electrical aptitude with knowledge of design practices, techniques, and codes.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN for single and multi-line drawings.
- Understanding of controls engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word).
- Strong problem-solving skills, proactive mindset, and ability to work in a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with industrial machinery and motor control theory.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC) and UL508A standards.
- Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and industrial fieldbus protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, etc.).
- Exposure to Allen Bradley PLC platforms (Siemens experience is a plus).
Office-based role located in Marietta, GA. May require occasional visits to warehouse or industrial environments. May be expected to perform hands on assembly or troubleshooting of equipment which requires use of hand/power tools and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Vanderlande requires the use of PPE and adoption of internal safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for self and others
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:Full-Time. Standard business hours with flexibility as needed for global collaboration.
Travel:Occasional travel may be required for stakeholder meetings, site visits, or global team collaboration, up to 10%, domestic and international.
