As a family-run, high-tech company with nearly 19,000 employees at 71 locations worldwide, we are looking for forward thinkers with unconventional ideas and drive to join our team. Our company culture, which values collaboration and mutual trust, creates the ideal framework for boldly trying new things and questioning the status quo. Our technologies inspire people to develop and produce things that are currently unimaginable. Whether lasers, machine tools, EUV or electronics - TRUMPF is building technological worlds for future generations. Are you ready for new challenges?

Your New Role
  • At the intersection of quantum computing and industrial application, you evaluate state-of-the-art classical and quantum algorithms and translate complex customer and internal requirements into well-defined solution concepts for relevant TRUMPF use cases

  • In close collaboration with experts in laser technology, EUV, semiconductor manufacturing, and photonics, you identify high-impact quantum use cases and combine quantum computing with high-performance computing resources to build powerful hybrid pipelines and demonstrators

  • You systematically benchmark implemented prototypes against classical methods, document performance and scalability, and contribute actively to an agile team environment through backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives

  • Presenting results to stakeholders, customers, and management, you actively shape technology roadmaps and strategic planning — bringing your expertise to bear on both near-term deliverables and long-term vision

  • As a representative of TRUMPF, you cultivate relationships with technology partners, universities, and research institutes, contributing to a strong and growing scientific network

What You Bring
  • Solid expertise in quantum computing: hands-on experience with quantum algorithms and error correction techniques, practical programming with quantum SDKs such as Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, Braket, or comparable frameworks, and a sound understanding of current quantum hardware capabilities and limitations

  • Proven experience in high-performance computing through designing, implementing, and executing computations on HPC systems or cloud clusters — ideally using MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, or equivalent technologies

  • A strong theoretical foundation in quantum mechanics and quantum information theory; experience in AMO physics, solid-state physics, or laser physics is a welcome addition

  • Your background may stem from a degree, PhD, or equivalent practical experience in physics, computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related field; experience in semiconductor or photonics industries and a record of scientific publications in quantum computing are advantageous

  • Excellent communication skills in English and a genuine enthusiasm for working in interdisciplinary, international teams round out your profile; German skills or a willingness to learn are welcome

What We Offer
  • The opportunity to shape the future of quantum computing in industrial applications at one of the world’s leading high‑tech companies.

  • Close collaboration with top experts in lasers, EUV, photonics, and semiconductor technology.

  • An innovative environment with room for creativity, personal responsibility, and professional development.

  • Attractive compensation, flexible working arrangements, and strong support for training and further education.
