SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER
Position Summary
The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and manufacturing processes meet established standards and customer requirements. This role works collaboratively with cross-functional teams—including production, engineering, and supply chain—to monitor performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement effective solutions that support operational excellence. The Senior Quality Engineer analyzes production and quality data to identify trends, and lead efforts for prioritizing FPY initiatives. Using structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methodologies, this position investigates quality issues, develops corrective and preventive actions, and supports the implementation of sustainable process improvements. The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for managing control of nonconforming material, RCA/CAPA, and calibration processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage Nonconforming Material - Champion the MRB/SIR process with Quality Manager
Analyze trends in nonconforming material to prioritize FPY improvement initiatives
Manage gauge control program (calibrated gauges) and develop gauging best practices, and inspection requirements
Lead root cause analysis, CAPA activity for internal and external findings
Manage customer escapes and corrective action requests
Prepare reports such as VIRS, VPARS, LOAs, and customer RCCA responses
Drive continuous improvement through utilization of CIRCOR Operating System (COS) tools
Mentor Quality Engineers and inspectors, answer questions regarding requirements
Develop, create, edit and implement special process and quality system procedures
Assist with external 3rd party and customer audits
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Interpret ASTM, Military, DFARS and FAR specifications, drawings, including knowledge of GD&T
- Working experience with writing quality procedures
- Problem Solving: Solves problems using systematic analysis processes and industry-standard methodologies
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and applications
- Quality Process Management: Applies quality tools and methods (e.g., APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, Capability studies, Process Audit, inspection, test)
- Measurement Science: Analyzes measurement processes throughout the traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty
- Experience with standards such as AS9100, ISO14001, ISO9001
- Must be able to meet tight deadlines, be detail oriented and highly organized
- Ability to collaborate across business functions to achieve results
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or a technical field required or relevant combination of education and direct experience
- Requires 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, including audit, in-depth understanding of quality concepts and principles
- ASQ certification (or equivalent) greatly preferred
