The Role

Introduction

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior QA Engineer / QA Lead to join our ecommerce engineering team. This role is critical to maintaining and expanding our quality practices as we scale. You will lead QA strategy, drive test initiatives across multiple teams, and contribute directly to both manual and automated testing efforts.
This is a hybrid role: part hands-on QA engineering, part leadership and coordination. You will be the primary QA driver for our ecommerce ecosystem, working closely with development, product, and offshore QA resources.

What You Will Do:

  • Own and evolve the QA practice for our ecommerce platform, establishing and championing best practices for both manual and automated testing.
  • Lead strategic planning for QA efforts that span multiple teams and systems, including ecommerce, order management, and digital marketing.
  • Guide, mentor, and support a small offshore QA team (manual and automation-focused engineers).
  • Develop and oversee test plans for new website features, backend integrations, and platform releases.
  • Enhance and maintain the automated test suite using modern test frameworks for both frontend and backend systems.
  • Design and execute test strategies for APIs, third-party integrations, and cross-system workflows.
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage across all layers — UI, API, and backend services — with appropriate risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure requirements are testable, traceable, and well-validated.
  • Act as the go-to QA point of contact for ecommerce platform initiatives.

To Be Successful You Will Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance roles, with 2+ years in a lead or senior capacity.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar.
  • Experience writing and executing API-level test cases and validating third-party service integrations.
  • Strong familiarity with test planning, case management, and defect tracking tools and processes.
  • Experience leading QA strategy across multiple teams or domains.
  • Understanding of ecommerce ecosystems, including experience or familiarity with order management systems and digital marketing tools.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into release workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Experience mentoring and guiding QA engineers, including offshore or remote team members.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Direct experience with Playwright (our current UI automation framework).
  • Familiarity with tools like Jira, TestRail, Git, and related Atlassian or CI/CD ecosystems.
  • Exposure to performance, accessibility, or security testing methodologies.
  • Prior experience in QA roles supporting omnichannel commerce or headless architecture environments.

Why Join Us?

  • Play a lead role in shaping the quality strategy for a mission-critical ecommerce platform.
  • Collaborate with a capable, supportive engineering and product team.
  • Take ownership, grow your impact, and drive improvements across systems that reach millions of customers.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or assume sponsorship of any additional employment visas at this time.
