Job Title: Senior QA Engineer
Job Summary We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer to drive quality assurance efforts as an embedded member of our software engineering team. In this role, you will build and document robust QA processes, maintain and extend existing automated test suites, and advocate for test-driven development. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to clarify ticket intent, flag potential issues early, and help scale our dealership platform.
Key Responsibilities
Process & Documentation: Design, write, and document clear, comprehensive test plans and manual test cases that serve as foundations for future automation and team onboarding.
Hands-On Test Automation: Maintain, modify, and extend existing automated test suites, taking ownership of complex test state setups and multi-variable business scenarios.
Embedded Team Collaboration: Actively participate in daily stand-ups and sprint meetings. Proactively raise flags, clarify incomplete requirements, and communicate test reasoning with engineers and product owners.
Agile Integration: Evaluate tickets for overall intent rather than just literal acceptance criteria to catch edge cases early in the development cycle.
Technical Growth: Provide insights to senior leadership on QA tools, architecture, and framework enhancements to support long-term scalability.
Requirements
Experience: 3+ years of professional software QA development experience with hands-on test suite creation and modification (not just test execution).
Technical Stack: Experience with Ruby, PostgreSQL, and modern CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, Bitbucket).
Automation Frameworks: Strong hands-on experience with web automation frameworks; Playwright experience is strongly preferred (Puppeteer or similar frameworks welcome).
Complex Test Setup: Demonstrated ability to handle complex test logic, multi-step state setups, and edge-case scenario creation (e.g., dynamic calculation/e-commerce workflows).
SaaS Testing: Experience across API, integration, database, visual, performance, and load testing.
Soft Skills & Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong ability to articulate technical issues clearly and advocate for quality proactively within a cross-functional team.
Time Zone: EST strongly preferred (team operates primarily on EST/Central hours).
