The Role
The Senior QA Analyst is an experienced, detail-oriented individual contributor responsible for ensuring the quality of our software solutions through robust test design, execution, and validation practices. They play a key role in bridging business requirements and technical implementation, challenging and clarifying inputs to ensure they are testable, complete, and aligned with customer value. By driving collaborative quality approaches, they support the delivery of reliable and scalable outcomes across the engineering function.
The role actively partners with business analysts, product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into actionable test strategies and comprehensive test plans. They influence how quality assurance is embedded within the delivery lifecycle, ensuring functional and non-functional aspects—including usability, accessibility, and security—are validated effectively. With leadership support, they own the test strategy
and execution for their domain, while working closely with QA automation engineers to ensure complementary coverage between manual and automated testing.
Through their expertise, the Senior QA Analyst not only drives day-to-day testing excellence but also contributes to the ongoing improvement of QA practices, risk reduction, and the uplift of product quality across the organization.
The role reports to the Engineering Manager, based in Budapest. Key Responsibilities
- Define, support, and maintain quality assurance processes using industry best practices to ensure high-quality, reliable, and scalable software delivery.
- Take ownership of test planning and execution across functional and non-functional areas, including accessibility, usability, and security testing.
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and engineering teams to ensure requirements are clearly defined and testable.
- Also questioning unclear, incomplete, or non-usable requirements, acceptance criteria to ensure solutions deliver real customer value.
- Design, maintain, and execute comprehensive test cases and test scenarios for web and API-based applications.
- Perform exploratory, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing, ensuring strong test coverage.
- Lead defect reporting, triage, and root-cause analysis, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with development teams.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide quality insights during backlog refinement, planning, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to the improvement of software development lifecycle processes with a focus on quality outcomes and risk reduction.
- Collaborate with automation engineers to identify automation opportunities and ensure complementary coverage between manual and automated testing.
About You
- 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, with proven expertise in functional and non-functional testing.
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, processes, and tools, with the ability to improve testing strategies.
- Experience in testing web and mobile applications, with a solid understanding of API testing and microservice architecture.
- Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira AIO, Zephyr).
- Familiarity with NFR testing practices, including performance, accessibility, usability, and security testing.
- Awareness of automation frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium) and ability to collaborate effectively with test automation engineers.
- Proven ability to own QA initiatives, influence team quality practices.
- Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively with global, cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience in Payments/FinTech or testing event-driven systems is a strong plus.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying up to date with QA and software testing trends.
