STV is seeking a Senior Public Engagement Specialist to join our Public Engagement Group in Florida. This is a remote position that will support a variety of transportation, infrastructure, planning, and community engagement initiatives throughout the state, including Florida's Turnpike Enterprise projects and other client programs.
The selected candidate will help plan, coordinate, and implement public involvement and stakeholder engagement activities for a diverse portfolio of projects. Responsibilities include developing communication strategies and materials, supporting public meetings and outreach events, creating digital and print content, conducting stakeholder research, and helping clients effectively communicate project information to the public. The ideal candidate is an experienced public engagement professional with strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills and a passion for fostering meaningful community involvement.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of public engagement, stakeholder outreach, and communications strategies for transportation, infrastructure and community development projects.
- Coordinate and assist with public meetings, open houses, workshops, stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and other engagement activities.
- Develop and disseminate outreach materials, fact sheets, presentations, meeting displays, project updates, newsletters, website content, and digital communications.
- Research and analyze community, stakeholder, and project information to support outreach efforts and project decision-making.
- Manage stakeholder databases, contact lists, engagement records, and public involvement documentation.
- Assist with social media strategy, content development, monitoring, and reporting for client programs and projects.
- Draft correspondence, presentations, reports, talking points, and other communications materials for public and stakeholder audiences.
- Coordinate logistics for outreach events, including venue selection, scheduling, materials preparation, staffing, and stakeholder notifications.
- Collaborate with project managers, planners, engineers, graphic designers, and clients to support project delivery and engagement objectives.
- Ensure outreach activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local public involvement requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, planning, journalism, marketing, public administration, or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in public involvement, public engagement, communications, community outreach, public affairs, or a related field.
- Experience supporting transportation, infrastructure, planning, or public-sector projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing presentations, outreach materials, and stakeholder communications.
- Experience coordinating public meetings, workshops, and community engagement activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Experience with stakeholder database management and public involvement tracking tools.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, content development, and digital engagement strategies.
- Experience with graphic design and content creation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
- FDOT project experience strongly preferred; Florida's Turnpike Enterprise experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Compensation Range:
