General Summary:

Our Seattle site is seeking a talented and motivated Protein Engineer (Senior Scientist) to join our dynamic team. If you are passionate about advancing scientific research and developing novel therapeutics, this role is for you!

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute protein engineering/directed evolution campaigns to improve binding affinity, stability, and selectivity.
  • Utilize yeast surface display technology for library screening and directed evolution.
  • Drawing from a deep array of Rosetta scripts and machine learning tools, create computational design strategies to deliver protein drug candidates.
  • Effectively communicate design strategies to interdisciplinary team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize protein candidates for function, manufacturability, and immunogenicity.
  • Prepare reports, papers, and patent applications, collaborating closely with inventors, scientists, and legal counsel.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the biophysics of protein structure/function relationships
  • Proven experience in directed evolution, yeast surface display, and protein engineering.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in protein modeling and design utilizing Rosetta software suite, Alphafold2, ColabFold, Protein MPNN, RFdiffusion or equivalent tools for insilico protein engineering
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Familiarity with antibody engineering and affinity maturation
  • Experience in cellular assay development
  • Understanding of cell biology and immunology

Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) in Computational Biology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field and 2-5 years of relevant post-doctoral, industry employment experience, or
  • M.S. (or equivalent degree) in Computational Biology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of relevant industry employment experience, or
  • B.S. (or equivalent degree) in Computational Biology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of relevant industry employment experience

This position will be based out of our Seattle site location focused on protein engineering for the organization. Over the past 9 years we have utilized protein engineering to create a robust pipeline including Acazicolcept (ALPN-101) and Povetacicept (ALPN-303)

Pay Range:

$116,000 - $174,000

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
