Job Description

Role: Senior Project Manager

Job Summary:

The IKO Global IT department is looking for a passionate, inquisitive, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and team-oriented Senior Project Manager to join our growing team.

Our Global IT team plays a critical role in ensuring solutions development and delivery excellence while providing an engaging customer experience. The team is guided by IKO’s values of Sharing Knowledge, Integrity, Long-Term Thinking, Performance, Humility, and Agility.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, PMO, Planning and Project Services, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing complex IT projects from initiation through completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business requirements.

This role will include leading the selection and implementation of a new ERP solution for our Distribution entity across Canada and the United States. The Senior Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, oversee project resources, and provide guidance to Project Managers and Project Coordinators.

This role is based out of our Mississauga, ON office location.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, monitor, and control all project management activities, including scope management, requirements management, technical design coordination, development, testing, communications, risk and issue management, budget oversight, and resource planning.

  • Own the complete project lifecycle from definition through completion, including the deployment of sustainable support models.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, work breakdown structures, milestones, dependencies, and resource requirements.

  • Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages accountability, problem-solving, and innovation.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment with organizational objectives and project delivery goals.

  • Provide leadership in project management processes, methodologies, and best practices to IT team members.

  • Communicate project status clearly and consistently across stakeholders, project teams, implementation partners, and leadership, including schedule, deliverables, costs, risks, and issues.

  • Allocate and optimize project resources, including people, budget, and materials, while monitoring utilization and project capacity.

  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, including mitigation strategies and contingency planning.

  • Ensure quality assurance through regular reviews, adherence to requirements, and alignment with specifications.

  • Monitor project budgets, track variances, and ensure appropriate financial discipline throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Facilitate project communications, reporting, presentations, documentation, and stakeholder updates.

  • Manage change control processes and assess impacts to project scope, schedule, cost, resources, and delivery timelines.

  • Lead project closure activities, including formal acceptance, transition to support, handover documentation, and lessons learned.

  • Lead and influence internal teams and external implementation partners without direct authority.

  • Support and guide Project Managers and Project Coordinators as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 5–10+ years of experience managing complex IT projects from initiation to completion.

  • Strong understanding of Distribution sector processes, including Customer Service, Order Fulfillment, Pricing and Promotions, Supply Chain Management, and related business functions.

  • Experience with ERP assessment, selection, and implementation.

  • Experience managing executive stakeholders and aligning them to project delivery goals.

  • Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Business Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management certification is preferred.

  • Experience with cloud-based projects and enterprise applications.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise systems, including ERP, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Distribution and Retail, WMS, CRM, ECM, Financial Systems, Business Intelligence and Analytics, EDI, and E-commerce.

  • Experience using project portfolio management tools such as Planview, MS Project, ServiceNow, PPM Pro, or similar tools.

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, processes, and best practices.

  • Experience managing externally procured solutions, vendor-led implementations, and in-house development deployments.

  • Experience working in a global, matrixed, and culturally diverse environment.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as ISO, is considered an asset.

  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple concurrent projects.

  • Ability to travel occasionally, both nationally and internationally, as required.
