L.L.Bean is looking for an IS Senior Project Manager to join our IS Team.
We welcome the opportunity for this role to be hybrid based at the corporate headquarters in Freeport, Maine.
Position Purpose: Lead complex, cross-functional supply chain IS systems initiatives from planning through delivery. Manage large, strategic, multi-year programs with high business impact, significant budgets, and multiple stakeholders to deliver outcomes on time, within scope, and within budget. Provide senior-level oversight across project governance, risk, vendors, and delivery teams.
This role requires strong supply chain and fulfillment project management experience. Initial focus will be leading a major upgrade of our warehouse management system (Manhattan) to enable new capabilities for a complex, multi-channel operation. You will oversee internal and vendor project managers and manage a multi-million-dollar budget. The role is ultimately responsible for on time and on budget delivery of large strategic projects.
Detailed Responsibilities include:
Planning, Schedule & Change Control
Create and manage the work plan (work breakdown structure) for complex supply chain systems delivery.
Build and manage integrated schedules using standard tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Confluence, SharePoint).
Plan staffing and resource needs; align allocations with resource managers.
Define assignments and effort estimates (ETCs) to manage capacity and delivery.
Negotiate priorities and trade-offs to deliver results with available resources.
Run change control to balance new requests against scope, timeline, resources, and budget.
Delivery Team Management
Define clear roles, responsibilities, and ways of working across business, IT, and vendors.
Drive decision-making and accountability across the team and governance groups.
Align the team around shared goals, milestones, and success metrics.
Anticipate organizational impacts and remove adoption barriers through change management.
Recognize contributions and reinforce high performance.
Provide timely feedback and corrective actions to keep delivery on track.
Apply supply chain systems and technology knowledge to guide solution and delivery decisions.
Promote PM best practices; coach other project managers and serve as a role model for the discipline.
Budget Management
Forecast and manage project spend in alignment with company accounting guidance (capital vs. expense).
Track actuals vs. budget and clearly communicate variances.
Proactively manage under/over-spend and secure approvals for budget changes when needed
Risk & Issue Management
Identify, assess, and prioritize risks across scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
Drive issue resolution and escalate when needed to protect delivery commitments.
Stakeholder Communication
Provide regular status, risks, and decisions to stakeholders and leaders; adjust plans as needed to protect scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
Serve as the central point of contact for project communications.
Use the right communication channel and cadence based on urgency and audience.
Create and deliver clear updates and presentations for project sponsors and governance groups.
Project Governance
Establish or work within an effective governance model (sponsor, steering committee, stakeholder group) to drive decisions and remove blockers.
Ensure cross-functional representation and accountability for scope, priorities, and outcomes.
Vendor & Partner Management
Build strong working relationships with vendors and partners to deliver committed outcomes.
Support contract and NDA negotiations as needed.
Track vendor deliverables, staffing, and performance against plan.
Manage vendor costs, invoices, and budget tracking.
Team Leadership
Coach and mentor project managers and team members; provide direction, feedback, and development support.
If assigned, support performance goals and review input in partnership with people managers.

Education:
4-year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
Experience:
7+ years leading complex, cross-functional projects/programs with a proven track record of delivery (supply chain systems preferred)
Skills and Qualifications:
· Agile project management skills and/or CSM certification preferred
· Project Manager certification preferred
· Supply chain domain experience, including warehouse management systems (WMS)
· Manhattan Active experience is a plus
· Business partner perspective and mindset
· Excellent speaking, presentation, writing, and organization skills
· Demonstrated decision-making ability
· Negotiation and influencing skills
· Skill at performance planning and coaching
· Enthusiasm, passion and persistent drive for progress
· May function in either a single or multi-location environment
