The Role

The Missiles & Aviation Solutions Division, within the Defense Systems Sector at Leidos, currently has an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to work at our Huntsville, AL campus providing support to a variety of programs related to missile systems and unmanned aircraft.  This is a dynamic opportunity in which a Program Manager can thrive working on a diverse array of multidisciplinary projects in the airborne systems arena.  We are seeking a highly motivated, trained, and talented Program Manager to foster advanced technology programs from the research and development phase to full productization.
Primary Responsibilities.
As an intricate member of the team, you will perform management functions for the project team involved with design and development of missile and munition systems as well as manned and unmanned aircraft systems and payloads; including third party payload integration. You will have the responsibility for planning, coordinating, tracking, and executing complex tasks within technical, schedule, and budget constraints.

These projects will involve diverse technology areas including electrical and hardware design and fabrication, EO/IR sensors, artificial intelligence/machine learning, navigation and control of air vehicle systems, and flight testing.

Basic Qualifications.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • 20 years of experience in Project Management type roles overseeing technical aviation-related projects is required.
  • Must have a strong technical background as well as verbal and written skills
  • Must be a proven leader with good organizational skills, attention to detail and work well as a leading member of a team

Demonstrated experience in the following areas:

  • Aircraft, missile/munition systems development, integration and testing
  • AI/ML technologies as applied to DoD Battle Management
  • Government Program Office in a resident capacity
  • DoD Acquisition training
  • Systems Engineering
  • Design, Verification, and Testing Process
  • Subcontract Management/Oversight
  • Cost estimating and Budget management
  • Organizational development
  • Leading a team, including subcontractors
  • Knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure
  • Knowledge of Integrated Master Schedule development
  • Risk identification and management
  • Project Performance Assessment and Reporting

Preferred Qualifications.

  • Other Experience/Qualifications
  • Aircraft flight operations and testing aircraft and payload systems
  • Test Pilot School (TPS) graduate
  • Aerial refueling knowledge and experience
  • Transitioning programs from development to production/sustainment
  • Leading Proposal Teams/Proposal experience
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint
  • PMP Certification or DoD Acquisition Professional with experience working in an Agile development/Rapid Prototyping environment are a plus.

Security Requirements

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance and meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Final Top Secret Clearance.

Pay Range:Pay Range $134,550.00 - $243,225.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
