Position Title: Senior Project Manager

Position Location: Remote – work virtually from anywhere in the United States

Travel Requirements: Up to 25%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states. Must be able to rent vehicles and have a valid driver’s license.


JOB SUMMARY

This is a senior-level, hands-on engineering role. You will own mechanical application engineering for Galtra’s prefabricated platforms, bridging requirements, design, and vendor execution. You will also collaborate closely with the Supply Chain Director, Operations Director, Sales, and the President to ensure products meet both technical and commercial goals.


The Senior Project Manager is self-directed on day-to-day work and receives high level instruction on new projects, tasks or assignments. Will execute and lead teams and projects, tasks or assignments of complex scope. May coordinate activities of other personnel.

This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead development of prefabricated mechanical offerings such as fan coil units, chilled water skids, hydronic systems, and integrated assemblies.
  • Translate customer requirements and drawings into manufacturable, scalable solutions with clear BOMs and options.
  • Independently select and size fans, coils, pumps, valves, and piping, providing calculation packages and design notes.
  • Collaborate with electrical and controls teams on integration of VFDs, MCCs, switchgear, safeties, and BAS/EPMS points lists (BACnet/Modbus).
  • Partner with the Supply Chain Director, Ops Director, Sales, and President to align designs with vendor capacity, cost targets, delivery schedules, and customer needs.
  • Support prototyping, FAT/SAT, and first-article builds; troubleshoot issues and close gaps fast.
  • Produce and maintain datasheets, submittals, IOMs, and application guides under tight revision control.
  • Work with vendors and fabricators on tolerances, weld and piping standards, coatings, vibration, and QA/QC processes.
  • Contribute to IP development by modularizing platforms and applying DFM/VAVE principles.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ADVANCED LEVEL FOR ALL THE FOLLOWING UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED)

  • Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, HVAC design, and hydronic systems
  • Strong working knowledge of prefabricated equipment, modular/skid systems, and DFM/VAVE practices
  • Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, Revit, AutoCAD, or similar) for producing datasheets, submittals, IOMs, and application guides
  • Skilled in design and analysis tools such as coil selection software, hydronic modeling, or CFD
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution, controls, and BAS/BMS systems, including VFDs, MCCs, switchgear, safeties, and BACnet/Modbus points lists
  • Familiar with industry standards and codes such as ASHRAE guidelines, UL safety standards, and NFPA codes
  • High attention to detail with the ability to maintain tight revision control across engineering documentation
  • Strong analytical skills to size and select fans, coils, pumps, valves, and piping, including calculation packages and design notes
  • Effective communicator, able to translate customer requirements and drawings into manufacturable, scalable technical solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deliverables, and meet design freeze deadlines
  • Strong collaboration skills for working across electrical, controls, sales, supply chain, and operations teams
  • Ability to independently own configuration decisions and execution readiness as a senior individual contributor
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively during prototyping, FAT/SAT, and first-article builds
  • Able to work effectively in a remote environment with minimal supervision and strong self-management skills
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to optimize workflows and support innovation

TRAVEL / RELOCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to rent vehicles and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Up to 25%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states
  • Effective May 7, 2025, and in accordance with U.S. federal regulations for domestic air travel, a valid REAL ID (or an acceptable alternative, such as a passport) is required for travel associated with this position.
  • Travel may involve transportation by car or plane depending on the destination and nature of the business need.
  • Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meetings for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Electrical Engineering required. Advanced degree or equivalent industry experience valued.
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical systems, power distribution, or industrial product development.
  • Mission-critical or data center experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of electrical design fundamentals including load analysis, grounding, protection, and arc-flash principles.

PREFERRED

  • Experience with data center or mission-critical equipment such as CRAHs/CRACs, fan coils, chilled water plants, or CDUs.
  • Exposure to commissioning processes, including FAT, SAT, or other system-level testing.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes commonly used in HVAC, electrical, and mechanical system design (for example, ASHRAE guidelines, UL safety standards, or NFPA codes).
  • Comfort working with ERP/CRM/PLM systems (NetSuite, HubSpot, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with design and analysis tools such as coil selection software, hydronic modeling, or CFD
