Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager leads, directs, and coordinates the daily management of the assigned project(s). This leadership position is accountable for the overall performance of the project including costs, schedule, quality, project status, and adherence to company policies and procedures. More importantly, the Senior Project Manager will manage a successful team and help develop future construction professionals.

This role will be based out of Winnipeg, MB with travel to jobsites located within Manitoba.What You Will Be Working On
  • Manage assigned projects from start-up through close-out, ensuring performance against safety, quality, schedule, and financial targets.  

  • Support project planning and execution in accordance with the Project Delivery Framework, coordinating with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams.  

  • Lead project start-up activities, including handover from estimating, cost code setup, and internal team alignment.  

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules in collaboration with the project team and subcontractors, ensuring alignment between master schedules and site-level look ahead plans.  

  • Oversee project financials, including cost tracking, forecasting, budgets, billing, and change management, ensuring timely payment of A/R and A/P. 

  • Support procurement and subcontracting activities, including scope definition, tendering, and subcontract award processes.  

  • Provide safety leadership through implementation of Bird Safety Program ensuring compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.  

  • Review and coordinate RFIs, change orders, shop drawings, and project submissions prior to client issuance.  

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records in accordance with company standards.  

  • Participate in client, consultant, and stakeholder meetings, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and key project issues.  

  • Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, maintaining an active risk register throughout the project lifecycle.  

  • Prepare internal and external reports, including schedule updates, financial status, and risk tracking.  

  • Supervision and development of project team members through regular feedback, performance management, training and coaching; timely completion of career development conversations. 

  • Administration and management of prime contract and subcontracts; includes negotiation and awarding of subcontracts for scopes of work as well as review and evaluation of subcontractor performance. 

  • Review and analysis of costs and identify revenue opportunities. 

  • Support project close-out activities, including deficiencies, commissioning, turnover, and warranty coordination.  

  • Foster and maintain positive relations and communication with clients, consultants, architects and subcontractors. 

  • Assist with business development efforts, including contributions to RFQs, RFPs, and Expressions of Interest (EOIs).  

  • Other duties as responsibilities as required. 

What We Are Looking For
  • Completed education in a construction-related discipline (Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent)  

  • At least 10 years of demonstrated, progressive experience in General Contracting; direct project management of large institutional or commercial projects ($50+ Million) through various construction methods and delivery models such as Design Build, Construction Management, or IPD. 

  • Construction experience in health care, hi-rise, or multi-family considered an asset. 

  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience mentoring and developing team members.  

  • Service and results-oriented, you are able to build and steward trust with a broad network of professional colleagues, subcontractors and team members to effect competitive excellence, pride in teamwork and outstanding project delivery. 

  • Experience in digital construction is considered an asset. 

  • You have demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration. 

  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule. 

  • Understanding of local building codes and construction techniques. 

  • Experience with managing self-perform scopes of work considered an asset. 

  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office, MS Project and/or Primavera P6, and industry-standard document management tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, SAP) Experience with InEight considered an asset. 

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including experience with cost control, forecasting, and contract administration.  

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.  

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.  

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
