Overview:The Project Manager within Technology Strategic Operations is responsible for leading complex initiatives that span multiple technology platforms, business units, or functional areas. This role ensures that projects are executed with precision, aligning with the Division of Technology’s strategic priorities. The Project Manager manages changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using established governance and verification techniques, keeping plans accurate, updated, and reflective of authorized changes. Success in this role requires strong stakeholder engagement, disciplined project execution, and a focus on delivering technology solutions that enable operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:-Project Leadership: Manage technology-driven projects with multiple interfaces or initiatives, or one larger program impacting two or more business or functional areas, from initiation through close. Establish clear roles and responsibilities for project team members.
Planning & Forecasting: Develop detailed project plans, forecasts, and schedules. Partner with stakeholders to capture requirements, constraints, and assumptions, ensuring deliverables are aligned with strategic technology objectives.
Governance & Controls: Ensure project plans include work breakdown structures, organizational charts, cost/budget forecasts, and communication, risk, quality, and resource management plans.
Stakeholder Alignment: Communicate project plans and updates to stakeholders, ensuring expectations are set, alignment is achieved, and transparency is maintained across the Division of Technology.
Execution & Monitoring: Drive execution of project tasks to achieve goals. Manage budgets and forecasts, monitor progress, and apply change controls to maintain project integrity.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ proven general management, project analysis or project management experience,
OR in lieu of a degree,
A combined minimum of 5 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ proven general management, project analysis or project management experience including a minimum of 2 years’ is project management experience.
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software packages.
