At AECOM, we are seeking a Senior Project Manager–Rail Projects to join our team in our Dublin office.
The Senior Project Manager–Rail Projects will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of all package activities within a major rail project. This will include the effective management and coordination of key stakeholders and project partners throughout all phases of the project lifecycle, including design, planning, procurement, construction, and operations.
The role will be instrumental in ensuring that project deliverables are aligned with the programme’s operational integration objectives, while maintaining compliance with established safety standards and project requirements.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage the delivery of project activities throughout the full lifecycle of a major rail project, from concept development through to completion and operational readiness.
- Develop and maintain project scope, budgets, programmes, schedules, milestones, and delivery plans.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other technical and construction specialists to support successful project delivery.
- Monitor project performance and progress against agreed scope, programme, cost, quality, and performance objectives, taking corrective action where required.
- Ensure all project activities comply with applicable health and safety legislation, standards, building regulations, project requirements, and relevant industry codes.
- Prepare, review, and present regular project progress reports, highlighting key achievements, risks, issues, dependencies, and required actions for stakeholders.
- Proactively identify, manage, and resolve project issues, risks, constraints, and delays to maintain programme and delivery objectives.
- Conduct and support site inspections, quality assurance activities, and compliance checks to ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and project requirements.
- Coordinate and participate in meetings between multidisciplinary project teams to maintain alignment on programme, deliverables, interfaces, dependencies, and key integration points.
- Support the review and management of interfacing contracts to ensure contractual deliverables are aligned with the overall objectives, scope, and requirements of the relevant project package.
- Manage the delivery of individual contracts within the wider programme, monitoring, tracking, and reporting on expenditure, programme, milestones, change, risks, and quality.
- Contribute to the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks associated with operational railway interfaces and integration activities.
- Facilitate effective collaboration, communication, and integration across multidisciplinary project and programme teams.
- Manage the integration of systems and sub-systems to support achievement of project performance, operational, and functional requirements.
- Support compliance with applicable planning, procurement, governance, and project management policies and procedures across all related project activities.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance project delivery, efficiency, quality, and stakeholder outcomes.
- Undertake any additional tasks, activities, or responsibilities that may reasonably be required in support of the successful delivery of the project and wider programme objectives.

Here’s what we’re looking for:
As the successful candidate, you will have experience working within our primary infrastructure market along with having the following qualfications and experience:
- 10+ years’ project delivery experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the relevant area of specialism, gained across the full project lifecycle through to completion on high-value major rail or similarly complex infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in construction management and the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness within a package or project environment, including experience of managing and working collaboratively with supply chain partners.
- Experience of leading and delivering elements of major projects within large, diverse, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrable ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate clear, effective, and consistent communication across all project stakeholders.
- Experience / knowledge of NEC Contracts required
