The Senior Project Manager is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of complex projects, leveraging established methodologies and best practices. This role oversees all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities include risk management, resource coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
This role requires experience delivering initiatives within retail, print, and B2B environments, with an understanding of customer-facing technology, commercial operations, and enterprise service models. The Senior Project Manager must be a polished communicator, comfortable presenting to and influencing executive leadership, including Steering Committees and senior business stakeholders.
Specifically, You Will:
Provide leadership for one or more complex, high-impact projects, utilizing established project lifecycle methodologies and best practices.
Balance and manage stakeholder expectations regarding project scope, schedule, budget, and risk, proactively identifying and mitigating potential issues.
Ensure project objectives align with Staples’ overall business strategy and IT technology vision.
Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive project plans that deliver expected results.
Lead and collaborate with virtual, cross-functional teams, including IT, business, and third-party partners, fostering alignment and promoting Staples’ values.
Identify, manage, and coordinate project resources, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability.
Mentor and guide project team members to develop their skills and capabilities, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Communicate project status, risks, issues, and changes effectively to all relevant stakeholders.
Oversee project financials, including cost estimates, forecasts, and monitoring actual spend against budget.
Some of what you need:
BS/BA degree or equivalent (MBA an asset).
PMP certification required.
Strong understanding of Retail, Print Services, and B2B operating models, including customer order management, fulfillment workflows, and service-level expectations.
Executive presence with demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical and financial information clearly to senior leadership audiences.
Experience managing initiatives that impact customer-facing systems and enterprise commercial platforms.
7+ years of experience in an IT organization required with demonstrated track record of delivering projects in Retail, Print or B2B environments.
Demonstrated success in working within cross functional teams and effective project management and analytical/decision-making skills.
Physical demands/working conditions:
Office environment – Hybrid, with 4 days onsite in Richmond Hill, subject to the hybrid policy.
