Senior Project Engineer
Job Description:
Senior Project Engineer Positions offered by ABB Inc. (Houston, Texas). Shape and deliver solutions and utilize customer feedback to drive delivery of improvements for medium to large complex projects. Resolve technical issues both remotely and at customer sites in US and abroad. Assist Project Managers with claims, customer specifications and safety standards, as well as technical details, costs, and deliverables for sales proposals. Execute cost effective Distributed Control System project deliverables on time in accordance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements. Design, test and commission Automation Enclosures, Control Logic and Human Machine Interfaces with ABB or 3rd party Control System. Create and deliver work plans, budgets, and risk assessments. Develop, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures and tools. Report inefficiencies and identify improvement opportunities.
Minimum Requirements:
• Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 8 years of experience working on projects involving Distributed Control Systems.
• Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:
- Working in the Oil, Gas, and Chemical Industries;
- Programming Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface);
- Following Functional Safety standards and processes;
- Utilizing the following Industry standard protocols: Modbus, OPC, and Profibus;
- Utilizing control logic programming based on P&ID and scripting, structured text, and function blocks control narratives;
- Designing Control system hardware panels (controllers, I/Os, and switches);
- Utilizing ethernet networking for industrial automation solutions;
- Leading projects and coordinating between vendors, customers, and project management;
- Testing and commissioning Distributed Control Systems;
- Performing factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing; and
- Working with simulation and sequence configuration.
- Position reports to Houston, TX. Telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy, but must live within commuting distance of stated office.
- Must be willing to travel domestically 25%
- Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.
