Summary 

Provides technical leadership for the design, development, production, test and sell off of simulation training devices. Applies mature engineering knowledge and planning. Fosters the development of a common vision, provides technical direction and priorities; clarifies roles and responsibilities within the team. Acts as technical link between CAE and customer.

Leadership & Technical Vision

  • Own the technical vision for the simulation project and actively communicate it to all stakeholders, ensuring every discipline (hardware, software, networking, user experience, and testing) understands how their work contributes to the end‑to‑end product.

  • Proactively build relationships across engineering teams, quality assurance, operations, and customer support, rallying them around shared goals and timelines. This includes facilitating joint design reviews, integration workshops, and problem‑solving sessions where diverse perspectives are valued.

  • Embrace challenging issues as opportunities for growth. Lead the team through complex trade‑offs, risk assessments, and corrective actions, demonstrating resilience and determination.

  • Serve as the primary technical bridge to the customer, ensuring their needs are met while upholding engineering integrity. Use clear, confident communication to build trust and secure ongoing support from all parties involved.

Requirements & Design Management

  • Translate customer and contractual requirements into detailed functional specifications and system architecture.

  • Author, coordinate, and present formal reviews (requirement, design, and integration) to stakeholders.

Engineering Execution

  • Create high level tasks for design, coding, testing, integration, acceptance in JIRA.

  • Monitor progress, enforce design reviews, and lead applicable demos.

  • Resolve technical problems in subsystem designs and ensure compliance with all technical requirements.

Hardware‑Software Integration (HSI)

  • Schedule and lead the integration phase, manage staffing plan, and verify that the simulation devices meet Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs)

  • Lead resolution of all acceptance faults (DRs) and participate in final installations and hand offs.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Assist in producing technical reports, user manuals, and formal review presentations.

  • Coordinate and review technical/operational deliverables before customer submission. (CDRL/SDRL)

Project Management & Planning

  • Create Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates and review firm fixed price proposals.

  • Conduct technical supervision and assessment of subcontracted efforts.

Jira & Agile Process Management

  • Own or assist in Jira configuration, issue tracking, sprint planning, and reporting.

  • Ensure all tasks are created, documented, prioritized, and completed on schedule.

Financial & Resource Planning

  • Assist in budgeting, cost tracking, and financial forecasting for the simulation project.

  • Forecast labor needs, develop staffing plans, and track financial health.

Mentoring & Knowledge Transfer

  • Provide guidance to junior team members and transfer technical knowledge to the customer.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

 

  • BS Degree in engineering or related field required.

  • Minimum of 10 years work experience with 7 years in flight simulation

  • Experience in design and delivery of products to the US military. This experience must include software development and computer system hardware layout and networks.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to create and understand technical documents related to aircraft, computers, electronics and flight simulation technology

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Master’s (or Ph.D.) in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering

  • Experience in design and delivery of flight simulation products

  • Familiarity with C-130J Aircraft

  • Familiarity with version‑control systems (Git) and continuous‑integration pipelines.

  • Experience managing Jira/Confluence or similar agile project‑management suites.

  • Experience using Microsoft Project to manage a project Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).

Security Responsibilities 

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.  

  • Candidate must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment 

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

  • Must be able to work in confined spaces for long periods.

 

Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  

  • Must be able to sit down for long lengths of time.

  • Must be able to climb stairs.

  • Must be able to travel to CONUS and International sites (30%)
