Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Senior Project Engineer to serve as the primary technical liaison among Repsol, vendors, and the internal project team. In this role, you will coordinate with the EPC contractor’s engineering team, owners’ engineers, and Repsol’s project and engineering teams to ensure the timely and successful completion of project deliverables. These may include civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical systems, while maintaining budget, schedule, and scope integrity. Collaborating with the Project Manager, you will develop an execution strategy that meets or exceeds project objectives.
This role is based in Downtown Houston, Texas, and offers a hybrid work schedule (three days in the office and two days remote).
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the project team to develop objectives by reviewing
- proposals and schedules.
- Prepare RFQs, review vendor quotes, and develop technical bid evaluations
- with clarifications that align with Repsol’s requirements, contract terms,
- and standards.
- Facilitate the preparation of design criteria, specifications, datasheets, one- line diagrams, and schematics for electrical equipment such as PV panels, inverters, trackers, transformers, and wind turbine generators.
- Provide technical input for engineering and design deliverables, coordinating production across disciplines.
- Review design deliverables to ensure compliance with company requirements, specifications, and industry standards.
- Facilitate the review of civil and structural plans, including geotechnicalreports, hydrology, and pile designs.
- Oversee the review of SCADA designs to meet ISO and PPS requirements.
- Conduct and review PV performance calculations using tools such as PVSyst and SAM.
- Facilitate electrical studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, device coordination, harmonic, cable ampacity, grounding studies, transient overvoltage (TOV) analysis, transient recovery voltage (TRV) analysis, insulation coordination, and other related evaluations using tools such as ETAP, CYMCAP, and WinIGS.
- Identify and document project action items, ensuring timely resolution.
- Monitor critical paths and address progress-limiting factors by recommending and implementing corrective actions in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Prepare engineering status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarize data and trends.
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in large-scale wind, solar and BESS project development and execution.
- Practical knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NESC, NFPA, API, NEMA, IEEE/ANSI).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively across multiple projects.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision, taking ownership of results.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as required. Authorization to work in the U.S. (sponsorship not provided).
- PE License with an NCEES record.
