Stryker is seeking to hire a Senior Staff Project Engineer to support manufacturing for Stryker’s Instruments Division in Kalamazoo, Michigan. As a Senior Staff Project Engineer you will be responsible for project & stakeholder management, technical expertise of all assigned projects, and be a lead change agent for process improvements and problem solving. This is a highly specialized individual contributor role that requires deep expertise from a professional / technical thought leader in their respective field or discipline.

What you will do:

This person will have the complete ownership of managing the projects, it’s resources, budgets and project timelines. The role demands proven project management skills. He / She needs to frequently interface with cross functional divisional counterparts and all stakeholders in and vendor base elsewhere working towards process improvement.   

• Independently and timely execution of complete project deliverables.

• Ensure continuous improvement in quality, delivering higher value services.

• Subject matter expert in the field on projects related to lean and kaizen events.  This includes facility layout, validation, change control and MES/SCADA. 

• Participate in the entire manufacturing process including new product introduction, planning, procurement, manufacturing operations, and logistics. 

• Utilize advanced project management tools and skills to plan and manage projects, including preparing budget proposals, project plan, resource requirements etc.

• Lead cross-functional project teams, frequently collaborating with CI, Operations, MEs, QEs, Materials, Maintenance, and Facilities.  Demonstrates high degree of influence. 

• Communicate effectively with all Customers, Stakeholders and project teams in delivering on Project Lead responsibilities.

• Create project timelines with inputs from all stakeholders and monitor the progress of the project.

• Build productive and collaborative internal/external professional relationships across Divisions & Global Quality and Operations functions

• Influence and mentor other engineers on the team in areas of project management best practices.

What you need:

• Project Management and Documentation expertise. 

• Demonstrated ability to lead complex product development initiatives within tight timelines. 

• Applied knowledge of project Management tools e.g. Microsoft Project, SharePoint, etc.

• Knowledge of Change Control procedures.  Basics of Windchill/PLM or other Product Lifecycle Management Systems preferred. 

• Extensive exposure to lean manufacturing processes and kaizen deployment.

• Experience in engineering best practices, industry trends and other engineering skills.

• Proven experience working with global teams with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

• Experience with validation procedures and protocols strongly desired
• Travel – up to 5%.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
• BS in engineering and 6+ years of work experience

• 6+ years of relevant work experience

• Experience with lean production systems

Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired):
• PMP or equivalent preferred

• Degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

• Should have delivered at least 2 projects of good scale

Travel Percentage: 10%
