Job Title:  Project Engineer - Power (Local Talent)

Job Purpose:

To support project team in executing EPC and Call off Contractors works to manage, supervise, and execute site activities related to Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) construction, and delivery of projects by coordinating technical activities, managing contractor and consultant interfaces and ensuring compliance with project requirements, Client standards, safety standards, quality requirements, applicable regulations and schedule targets. The role is primarily site-based in Iraq, with regular coordination with multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Execution & Supervision: Oversee construction activities for OHTL, ensure work is carried out as per approved drawings, method statements, and specifications and monitor contractor performance and productivity.
  • Project planning & Execution: Plan and execute OHTL Projects (typically 33kV to 132kV or higher voltages) by coordinating with engineering, procurement, and construction teams. Monitor project milestones and deliverables.
  • Review construction schedules and ensure adherence to timelines, identify site constraints and propose mitigation measures and liaise with local authorities and stakeholders when required. Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and clients.
  • Quality Control: Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards (IEC/IEEE), and client requirements. Conduct inspections, audits, and ensure proper documentation of quality records.
  • Commercial & Contract Support: Assist in quantity verification and BOQ tracking, support in variation claims and change orders and review subcontractor invoices and progress billing.
  • Testing & Commissioning: Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, Coordinate energization readiness with client and grid authorities, Close out punch points and handover documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 10 years of experience in high voltage (HV/EHV) transmission line projects related to oil and gas industry.
  • Experience in Middle East (preferably Iraq) is an advantage

Key Skills:

  • Experience in Majnoon Oil Field, Basra, Iraq is an advantage
  • Strong Knowledge of Overhead Transmission Line (OHTL) construction.
  • Experience in Contract management with Commercial awareness
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Mandatory experience in Oil and Gas industry.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under site conditions.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) is an advantage
  • Fluent in both English and Arabic language (written and spoken).
  • Good knowledge of International Standards (IEC/IEEE)
