BAE Systems is looking for an experienced hardware engineer with skills in engineering project management. In our Navigation & Sensor Solutions Hardware Engineering department located at a newly constructed facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, you will become part of a Hardware Engineering Team developing Modernized M-Code GPS Receivers for defense programs. The team is responsible for the complete hardware product development process including bidding, hardware requirements analysis and capture, design, integration, and product verification including operations and customer support. Developing military GPS products with the latest technology and maintaining our legacy receivers, this hardware engineering team works closely with system and software development teams during the development process as well as in GPS labs to integrate and test products.
The Role: In this role, you will:
- Develop hardware development project plans, schedule, cost, and risk management
- Determine and define project scope and objectives
- Provides technical leadership to Design Engineers and program teams
- Develop Basis of Estimates (BOE), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and resource requirements matrix
- Develop and manage various program status reports and briefings to inter and external stakeholders
- Provide technical support to contracts with vendors and suppliers
- Utilize industry best practices and techniques, and standards throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
- Must have engineering project management experience
- Hands-on hardware development experience (schematics, PCB layout, mechanical design)
- Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget and timeline
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- Experience executing projects through the full development lifecycle
- Ability to obtain a DoW Secret clearance
- Must be able to work on-site in Cedar Rapids, IA
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- PMP® certification or equivalent project-management credential
- Direct experience with GPS/M-Code systems
- Hardware engineering experience in product development
- 5+ years of engineering project-management experience (full product lifecycle)
- Prior leadership of multi-disciplinary hardware teams (5+ engineers)
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $88189 - $149922
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
