Senior Project Director (LNG)

KBR is currently looking for an experienced Project Director to lead LNG projects in FEED / Execution.

Initially based in Leatherhead, reporting to the Director of Projects the candidate will have the primary responsibility for the commercial and technical delivery of mega scale LNG projects.

The qualified candidate will have prior experience in leading large scale greenfield work, preferably within the LNG liquefaction sector and of working with both fabrication and site subcontractors in a range of locations.  Experience of projects within joint venture structures preferred.

Key Responsibilities to include:

  • Assuring safe project execution to the client's satisfaction, consistent with cost, schedule and contractual requirements while maintaining bottom line responsibility for financial success.
  • Serving as point of contact between the client, company and execution phase subcontractors; building strong working relationships with all.
  • Planning execution development and maintaining the plan as necessary and assures adherence to the plan. Keeps the client and KBR advised of execution development status.
  • Development of project execution plans in accordance with client project drivers, policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
  • Development of local content plans inline
  • Demonstration of robust execution plan to stakeholders (client, JV partners and KBR internal)
  • Management of project risk to avoid delays or reputational damage
  • Oversight of all supply chain engagements (procurement and subcontractor) from initial enquiry to final negotiations.
  • Delivery of completed cost estimates to underpin proposals and check estimates including completion of internal and client reviews as required.
  • Identification of resource requirements and co-ordination with resource managers
  • Develop & mentor the KBR team to maintain execution and commercial focus during generation of the execution.

Key Attributes / Skills / Experience:

  • Senior professional with strong personal drive and credibility with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience of construction subcontract development
  • Proficient oral and written communications skills.
  • Collaborates well in a team environment.
  • Track record of project delivery in a range of global locations (prior South East Asia experience preferred).
  • Experience of fabrication yard based workscopes.
  • Demonstratable flexibility and ability to adapt to changing project-related priorities and deliver high quality, accurate work within required deadlines
  • Debottlenecking of technical issues across the disciplines.
  • Reporting and tracking of progress and key technical and / or commercial concerns.
  • Management of progress against schedule, including Earned Value reporting
  • Implementing corrective actions as necessary (lessons learned).
  • Contract administration including change orders / contract amendments / risk management.
  • Ability to works things through with clients to resolve issues, including conflicting demands, sensitive situations, and conflicts with other groups.
  • Abides by the KBR Code of Business Conduct and business ethics.
  • Skills typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering and possession of a Professional Engineering qualification and / or project management qualification (for example PMP or AMP).
  • Engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to gain the confidence of senior and executive management as well as multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural peers/subordinates.
  • Excellent awareness of environmental and sustainability issues, particularly with respect to the LNG supply chain and opportunities for decarbonisation.
