The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join our Utilities business supporting the Telco NZ portfolio. Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, this role plays a critical part in delivering accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and strong commercial support across a portfolio of projects and programs.
 
You will partner closely with operational teams to provide transparency on financial performance, influence decision making, and ensure strong governance and control frameworks are upheld. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a complex project environment.

What we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced and commercially astute finance professional who can confidently partner with stakeholders and deliver high quality financial outcomes. You will bring
  • Strong experience in project or management accounting within a large complex organisation
  • Proven capability in budgeting forecasting cost control and financial reporting
  • Experience with revenue recognition billing and margin analysis
  • Strong understanding of contract types including cost plus and schedule of rates
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Exposure to ERP systems ideally JDE and strong Excel capability
  • A tertiary qualification in Finance Accounting or Commerce
  • CA or CPA qualification or working towards
  • You will also demonstrate a proactive mindset, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to continuous improvement and zero harm principles.
