If you're passionate about innovation, system design, and making a real impact on critical energy infrastructure—this is your opportunity to shape what’s next.Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Product Systems Architect to shape the architecture and system-level definition of a digital monitoring platform for substations.
This is a product-facing technical leadership role at the intersection of customer needs, product strategy, system architecture and engineering execution. The successful candidate will translate customer problems into technically feasible and commercially sensible system solutions, while coordinating internal engineering teams, suppliers and technology partners.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Define and own the overall architecture of the substation monitoring platform, encompassing hardware, firmware, software, and data layers.
Translate customer and product needs into system capabilities, requirements, interfaces and technical acceptance criteria, ensuring alignment with product goals and operational constraints.
Act as the technical bridge between product management, domain SME, engineering teams, suppliers and customers.
Create and maintain the key architecture, system requirements and interface documentation needed to guide engineering.
Lead technical product discovery, feasibility assessments, prototypes and architecture trade-offs across performance, cost, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Develop a forward-looking platform strategy to support integration of AI/analytics, expandability, and evolving grid needs.
Design software architecture to support edge-to-cloud integration, including secure communication, scalable data pipelines, and deployment flexibility
Design the software and data architecture for secure edge-to-cloud integration, scalable data pipelines, and flexible deployment across local, distributed, and cloud environments.
Align system design with industry standards (e.g., IEC 61850, IEEE C37, DNP3, MODBUS) for secure and reliable operation in grid environments.
Integrate sensor data, asset models, and diagnostic tools into a unified platform covering data acquisition, processing, visualization, and diagnostics..
Establish architectural patterns for modular deployment, secure access control, update mechanisms, and multi-tenant operation for cloud systems.
Manage technical decisions around containerization (e.g., Docker), orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Support field trials and customer pilots, incorporating lessons learned into the product architecture.
Support make–buy–partner decisions and lead the technical evaluation and integration of suppliers, sensors, analytics providers and third-party technologies,
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (master’s preferred).
Solid and strong experience in system architecture or complex product development in industrial or energy applications.
Experience defining systems that combine hardware, software, communications and data processing.
Understanding of systems decomposition, requirements flow-down, and cross-domain interface definition.
Demonstrated leadership in technical coordination across cross-functional teams (engineering, customer-facing functions, partners)
Experience with digital, software-enabled or analytics driven solutions.
Ability to clearly communicate architecture and trade-offs to varied audiences, both technical and executive.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Desired Characteristics:
Domain knowledge in electric power transmission & distribution, especially substations and power systems.
Exposure to edge computing, IoT architectures, and real-time analytics.
Understanding of AI/ML applications for predictive diagnostics or fault analysis.
Experience evaluating suppliers and integrating third-party technologies.
