About the role

We are looking for a Senior Product Sustainability & LCA Specialist to help quantify and communicate the environmental impact of our products, technologies, services and circular business models. The role sits within ESG Sustainability, reports to the Head of ESG Sustainability and provides globally consistent, evidence-based calculations that support Mission Zero initiatives, customer sustainability objectives, product development, commercial opportunities and ESG reporting. This is a hands-on specialist role that will directly perform calculations and, where needed, coordinate external consultants or LCA partners, review their outputs and take ownership of the final results as part of ESG Sustainability's global methodology and governance.

What you will do

  • Develop and apply Life Cycle Assessments, Product Carbon Footprints and other environmental impact assessments for products, technologies, services and solutions.
  • Perform environmental calculations related to avoided emissions, circularity benefits, land use avoided, water savings, waste reductions, resource efficiency and other relevant indicators.
  • Support Mission Zero projects by providing technical calculation support within ESG Sustainability.
  • Connect product- and customer-level impact methodologies with FLSmidth's organisational environmental footprint approach, corporate ESG reporting boundaries and external disclosure requirements.
  • Document assumptions, data sources, limitations and calculation logic in a clear and auditable way.
  • Coordinate external LCA consultants or technical providers when additional expertise or capacity is required, ensuring clear scopes, data inputs, assumptions, timelines and deliverables.
  • Review, challenge and validate external provider outputs, and take accountability for the quality, consistency and final use of those outcomes as if they were produced internally by the role.
  • Develop tools, methodologies and models to scale environmental impact assessments across the product portfolio.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Mission Zero, Product Management, R&D, Sales, Service, Marketing, Sustainability Reporting, ESG Finance, business-line stakeholders, customer-facing teams and external LCA partners.
  • Provide technical substantiation for customer-facing sustainability value propositions, tenders, environmental claims and commercial materials.

What you bring

  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Ecology, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Solid experience in Life Cycle Assessment, product sustainability, environmental footprinting or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience with LCAs, Product Carbon Footprints and relevant standards such as ISO 14040, ISO 14044 and ISO 14067.
  • Experience with LCA software and databases such as Sphera/GaBi, SimaPro, OpenLCA or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and modelling capabilities, with the ability to translate complex data into clear business insights.
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and external technical partners.
  • Experience coordinating external consultants, technical providers or LCA partners, including reviewing technical deliverables and ensuring the quality of final outputs.
  • Ability to document methodologies and assumptions in a structured, transparent and auditable way.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, mining, engineering or technology environments is an advantage.

The successful candidate will combine hands-on LCA expertise, strong data modelling skills, sound methodological judgement and the ability to coordinate external technical support when needed. The role will be accountable for the quality and final use of calculation outcomes, whether developed directly or with external provider support, helping translate sustainability performance into customer value, product insights and reliable ESG information.


Annual gross salary range: 70.000 Euro - 94.000 Euro
