The Technology Development department comprises of diverse groups of curious, world class engineering specialists. We are experts in our fields, and we ensure Dyson products are on the edge of what’s possible. The department encompasses specialist groups across different disciplines – Product Performance, Acoustics, Fluid Dynamics, Structural Dynamics, Materials. This role resides within the Product Performance group, which provides the technical analysis of hair appliance product performance. Such quantifying and optimising how well the product dries and styles hair.
About the roleIdentify key factors affecting performance and use basic analysis tools (e.g., Excel, scripts, Minitab) to support optimization and predictive tasks.
Assist in designing and carrying out tests to evaluate performance, ensuring results are clearly analyzed and recommendations are suggested under guidance.
Help define problem statements, highlight risks, and provide supporting analysis for performance improvement, always considering customer needs and business goals.
Proactively develop technical skills through project involvement, self-learning, and training, aiming for growth in product performance understanding.
Collaborate effectively within project teams, communicate findings clearly to stakeholders, and help maintain organized and accessible documentation.
Contribute ideas for process improvements, support new methods or tools, and participate in activities that enhance product performance and reliability.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent).
Ideally 4+ years’ experience in product design/development; less may be considered for strong candidates.
Solid grasp of engineering fundamentals, measurement, and statistical analysis.
Proficiency with data processing tools (Minitab, MATLAB, Excel); some experience with CAD/CAE tools preferred.
Experience with statistical modeling (e.g., multiple regression) is advantageous.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to tailor communication and influence within project teams.
Able to work independently on the more varied and complex tasks and/or demonstrate functional leadership without direct supervision as needed.
