The Role

We are seeking a Senior Product Owner who can help shape the cloud infrastructure, supporting mission-critical systems for Police, Fire, and EMS and other public safety. The Senior Product Owner for Cloud Operations will guide a team of developers through detailed technical requirements for cloud security, operations, and telemetry. These capabilities are the underpinnings that keep our applications running smoothly, so the communities we serve are safer. You will serve as the key liaison between the software development team and the Product Manager. This role is responsible for ensuring that product requirements are effectively communicated, prioritized, and executed by the development team. You will manage the product backlog, define user stories, and facilitate Agile processes to deliver high-quality software products that align with the broader product strategy.  This job posting is being used to fill an existing vacancy.

What You Do

Collaboration with Product Manager

  • Work closely with the Product Manager to understand and help influence product vision, goals, and high-level roadmap. 
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans for multiple development teams. 
  • Provide feedback on feasibility, timelines, and technical considerations to support product planning. 
  • Partner with the Product Manager to drive the successful delivery of complex software initiatives from concept to launch while supporting continuous improvement on existing products. 

Backlog Management

  • Own and manage multiple product backlogs, ensuring items are well-defined, estimated, and prioritized across teams. 
  • Create clear and detailed user stories with acceptance criteria based on requirements provided by the Product Manager and stakeholders. 
  • Continuously refine and update the backlog based on team feedback, changing priorities, and user insights. 

Development Team Support

  • Act as the primary point of contact for development teams, communicating product strategy as well as clarifying requirements, priorities, and expected outcomes. 
  • Support Agile processes by facilitating sprint planning, refinement, and review sessions. 
  • Collaborate with development teams to balance feature delivery with technical debt remediation. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance delivery efficiency and team performance. 

Stakeholder Alignment

  • Collaborate with the Product Manager, Business Analysts, Designers, and other stakeholders to gather input, define priorities, and align priorities.  
  • Represent the voice of the customer to the development team and ensure features deliver maximum value to end-users. 
  • Support cross-team coordination for dependencies and shared product initiatives. 

Quality Assurance

  • Review completed work to ensure it meets defined acceptance criteria and is aligned with the product vision. 
  • Partner with QA and testing teams to validate that deliverables meet quality standards. 

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze and evaluate development team processes, making recommendations for efficiency improvements and consistency across teams. 
  • Use product metrics and team feedback to refine the backlog and adjust priorities. 
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Product Owners and team members to strengthen agile practices. 

What You Bring 

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO) are a plus. 
  • A minimum of 5–7 years of experience as a Product Owner in enterprise SaaS or public safety software, managing multiple agile teams or large-scale product initiatives. 
  • Experience with Datadog or similar cloud observability frameworks. 
  • Familiarity with software engineering concepts such as APIs, databases, and cloud platforms. 
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks, particularly Scrum or Kanban. 
  • Proficiency in writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and maintaining product backlog. 
  • Hands-on experience with tools like JIRA, Confluence, or similar. 
  • Technical background or hands-on experience with software development processes. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

Asset Qualifications

  • Experience with “Aha!” Product Management software 
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI technologies to enhance product capabilities or operational efficiency. 
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification. 
  • Experience with Public Safety software such as Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) or Records Management Systems (RMS).  

Due to the nature of our work with public safety agencies, this position requires compliance with the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy. Candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive, fingerprint-based background check. Please note that specific customer contracts may impose additional security verification requirements. Obtaining and maintaining all required security clearances is a condition of employment. The starting salary for this position will be dependent upon many factors, such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience, education, training as well as internal equity, market data, and business needs. In addition to base salary and our comprehensive benefits offering, some roles may also be eligible for variable compensation such as incentive plans or discretionary performance bonuses.
