The Opportunity
We are seeking a results-driven Senior Product Manager (Routing and Assignment) to work directly with our Data Science team. This role will own the dispatch assignment engine, driving the innovation and deployment of algorithmic improvements that directly enhance delivery performance, optimize operational cost, and improve the customer experience at scale. This role requires strong analytical skills, backend product knowledge, and the ability to drive data-driven product decisions that directly impact business outcomes. Key expectations to the ‘routing and assignments’ aspect of this role include:
- Experience with optimization using operations research (OR) techniques
- Understanding of mathematical concepts like objective functions
- Can speak to ways to improve the performance (speed) of optimization processes
- Able to define and defend tradeoffs decisions between operational cost, customer experience, and/or courier loyalty when making dispatching decisions
Location: Hybrid- 3 days a week from our Berlin or London offices & 2 days working from home
Reporting to: Senior Group Product Manager, Dispatch Network Optimization
These are some of the key ingredients to the role:
- Strategic Roadmap Ownership: Define and execute the product roadmap (12+ months) from strategy to execution, focusing on achieving an optimal network state through feature optimization or new product development.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Prioritize initiatives and demonstrate product performance improvement using leading/lagging indicators, rigorous data analysis, and A/B test design and management.
- Technical Product Development: Translate high-level goals into clear PRDs and manage the full product lifecycle, utilizing tools like Jira for ticket grooming and deployment.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate with engineering, data science, and adjacent tech teams on solution design, technical integration, and managing trade-offs for robust, scalable product delivery.
- Product Discovery & Research: Execute product discovery to find opportunities, leveraging user research and strong analytical skills to ensure successful product performance.
- Alignment & Communication: Drive consensus and alignment across engineering, operations, and leadership by effectively presenting product narratives and data-driven insights.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with Operations teams, advocating for priorities and influencing cross-functional teams and executive leadership with clear communication of business impact and constraints.
- Technical Acumen: Possess a strong understanding of backend systems, APIs, and data architecture to effectively collaborate with engineering on solution design and delivery.
What will you bring to the team?
- Experience in product management, with a track record of driving growth through experimentation and optimization.
- Experience working with data scientists and operations researchers
- Understanding of backend systems, APIs, and data architecture principles
- Experience with prioritization methodology (ie RICE) and other product frameworks
- Strong analytical skills with experience in statistical analysis and A/B testing methodologies
- Experience with SQL, Python, or other data analysis tools
- Proven track record of driving measurable business impact through product initiatives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to executives
- Experience working in agile development environments with cross-functional teams
