While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.
The Travel Rule is a global regulation that requires businesses to share information about cryptocurrency transactions. Travel Rule adherence is required for any regulated crypto exchange to operate in key markets (e.g. United States, Europe, Singapore, and more).
Coinbase operates the world’s leading Travel Rule solution, known as TRUST, a non-profit partnership between multiple Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs). For Coinbase, not only is it critical that we’re fully-compliant with Travel Rule, we also aspire to deliver the world’s best Travel Rule solution with TRUST, ensuring that we’re able to create a delightful experience for our own customers while preserving customer privacy and security.
As Coinbase’s Travel Rule lead, you’ll play a critical role in both owning the end-to-end Travel Rule experience across Coinbase’s products, but also positioning and growing TRUST as the world’s leading Travel Rule solution.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Lead Travel Rule vision, strategy, and execution across a broad cross-functionality team.
- Define and own a long-term roadmap, and ensure close alignment with stakeholders across relevant Coinbase products.
- Drive success across all key metrics (TRUST market share, Travel Rule performance across Coinbase’s products, and more).
- Expand TRUST’s footprint across VASPs, networks, and assets.
- Partner closely with Design and Engineering to deliver a delightful and high-quality UX to ensure that Coinbase is compliant without compromising customer experience.
- Be on top of every detail: Relentlessly drive program health, keep stakeholders informed, and demonstrate holistic ownership.
- Obsess over quality: At Coinbase, quality is core to what we do, and Travel Rule is no exception. You’ll be accountable to ensuring every screen, every flow, and every feature is polished and that all edge cases and “unhappy paths” are identified and resolved.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- 6+ years of product management experience
- 3 years of experience taking products from conception to launch
- Experience working with, balancing needs, and maintaining strong relationships across a wide variety of stakeholders
- Experience navigating and influencing senior leadership across multiple functions
- Demonstrated ability in working with a high degree of business and technical complexity across a broad product portfolio
- Demonstrated ability to ship a holistic product experience without “shipping the org chart”
- Aptitude for learning and ability to ramp quickly on new and potentially complicated domains
- Demonstrated passion for cryptocurrency, financial markets, and the Coinbase mission
- Demonstrated technical aptitude (via degree or prior experience in a technical role)
Nice to haves:
- Experience leading and growing crypto or compliance-related products.
- Experience working with open source and/or industry-wide protocols or standards.
- Business development and partnership experience.
- Experience operating with international teams, including effective cross-time zone collaboration.
- Experience working with payment networks and/or platforms.
- Prior experience working with compliance and/or risk products.
- Experience with self-custody, wallets, stablecoins, and protocols.
