THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Join our team as a Senior Product Manager at the Zalando Payments GmbH and take charge of a pivotal role in our organization as the Senior Product Manager for Payments Transaction Management & Steering. In this role, you will lead the team responsible for our central payment transactions engine, guiding the migration to our target architecture while ensuring the stability and performance of customer transactions across all of Zalandos markets and propositions. Your expertise will be crucial in aligning Zalando Payments services into all internal and external processes and systems, making you a vital touchpoint for maintaining the seamless operation of our payment infrastructure.

This role demands a passionate technical product development professional with a strong ability to navigate complex technical environments. You will be tasked with ensuring compliant transactions management across various payment methods, working under ambiguous priorities, and keeping the team focussed in high-pressure situations. As a key player in our payments landscape, your leadership will drive the evolution of our payment systems architecture, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of stability, performance, and security across all markets.

Product Roadmap - Empower your team to craft and sustain a dynamic product roadmap outlining prioritized features, enhancements, and initiatives within the designated product domain. Foster collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to gather relevant requirements, align closely with our Engineering Leadership, and articulate precise product specifications.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Forge close partnerships with the Zalando Platform teams to comprehend their needs and requirements concerning our payment infrastructure. Foster effective collaboration to ensure synchronization, secure buy-in, and facilitate the successful execution of product initiatives. Engage with product managers across various departments within the organization, leveraging influence to align roadmaps for collective success.

Product Development: Independently take the lead in steering the entire product development lifecycle, from inception to execution, encompassing problem definition, opportunity sizing, solution identification, coordination of technical design and development efforts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and the overall company strategy.

Performance Analysis: Continuously monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) of the transaction processing across all our services alongside your team. Utilize data-driven insights to pinpoint areas ripe for enhancement, prioritize product optimizations, and evaluate the efficacy of implemented strategies.

Stakeholder Communication: Routinely communicate updates, advancements, and outcomes to pivotal stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and cross-functional teams. Present discoveries, proposals, and business cases to garner support and secure resources for product initiatives. 


WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF YOU...

  • Have several years (5+) of product management experience, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, ideally in the domain of payments or fintech 

  • Have a technical background or experience in managing technical product development

  • Are a natural problem-solver, with a history of leading a technical product through discovery, solving meaningful customer and business problems, delivering scalable solutions and being able to work independently

  • Have experience working in complex and ambiguous technology environments

  • Have the ability to create a strong product vision and translate that vision for any audience, through well-crafted documents, thorough requirements, and clear communication with stakeholders

  • Have an analytical mind, with the expertise to evaluate data, and draw insights to make informed product decisions by defining success criteria and measuring the impact of the product.

  • Are interested in Payments industry trends and developments, ideally having some experience in working with payment partners or service providers in Europe.
