Job Description

Working within the Institutional Trading Technology Product Team, the Senior Product Manager serves as the primary technology product partner for assigned Global Equities trading desks, platforms, and capabilities. The role partners directly with Institutional Trading, Engineering, Trading Operations, Compliance/Supervision, Risk, vendors, and other stakeholders to translate business strategy, trading needs, regulatory requirements, and operational priorities into executable product roadmaps and measurable outcomes.

The Senior Product Manager owns the end-to-end product lifecycle, including product strategy, roadmap development, platform modernization, requirements and backlog prioritization, delivery and release planning, client enablement, production support, and ongoing enhancement. The role evaluates opportunities, risks, tradeoffs, dependencies, and investment choices to ensure resources are directed toward the highest-value business outcomes.

Success in this role requires strong institutional equities and electronic trading expertise, sound product judgment, and the ability to independently build credibility with senior stakeholders, influence priorities, and communicate complex issues clearly. The Senior Product Manager must operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly visible environment where technology performance, operational stability, risk controls, and regulatory compliance directly affect trading activity and client service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technology product partner for assigned Global Equities trading desks, platforms, and capabilities.

  • Own the product lifecycle for assigned products, including product strategy, roadmap development, platform modernization, requirements and backlog prioritization, delivery, release, client enablement, production support, and ongoing enhancement.

  • Partner directly with trading stakeholders to understand business priorities, client needs, workflows, challenges, and opportunities and translate them into clear product priorities and executable technology outcomes.

  • Own and prioritize product backlogs and investment recommendations based on business value, client impact, risk, cost, dependencies, capacity, and strategic alignment.

  • Lead requirements definition and ensure business needs, expected outcomes, controls, and acceptance criteria are sufficiently understood by Engineering and other delivery partners.

  • Lead cross-functional delivery across Trading, Engineering, Operations, Risk, Compliance/Supervision, vendors, and other stakeholders.

  • Identify and communicate tradeoffs, dependencies, risks, and decisions required to move product initiatives forward. Make clear recommendations when resources, requirements, or stakeholder priorities conflict.

  • Provide product leadership during significant production incidents and operational escalations by assessing business impact, coordinating stakeholders, establishing priorities, communicating status, and supporting resolution and follow-up efforts.

  • Lead the evaluation, modernization, migration, and strategic replacement of trading platforms and related technology capabilities when existing solutions no longer meet business, client, control, resiliency, or technology needs.

  • Support client enablement and business-growth opportunities that require changes to electronic trading capabilities, workflows, integrations, connectivity, or reporting.

  • Partner with Compliance/Supervision and Risk to ensure product changes incorporate applicable controls, regulatory requirements, and appropriate governance throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Lead engagement with strategic technology vendors, execution venues, market-data providers, and third-party platform providers to drive delivery, issue resolution, product enhancements, service performance, and long-term platform strategy.

  • Establish success measures and use operational metrics, trading data, user feedback, incident trends, and business outcomes to evaluate product performance and inform prioritization and investment decisions.

  • Monitor developments in electronic trading, market structure, technology, regulation, client needs, and the industry to identify emerging risks, opportunities, and product needs.

  • Communicate product strategy, priorities, delivery status, risks, outcomes, and decisions clearly to business and technology stakeholders, including senior management.

  • Contribute to interviewing, onboarding, and development of Product Team members as needed.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Sell-side institutional equities, electronic trading workflows, market structure, and trading technology.

  • Agile software development and backlog management practices.

  • Application management and production technology environments.

  • Financial-services risk, control, and regulatory considerations applicable to electronic trading environments.

  • Third-party trading technology, market-data, and vendor management considerations.

Skill in:

  • Developing trusted partnerships with senior trading and technology stakeholders.

  • Translating complex business and trading needs into clear product requirements, priorities, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.

  • Managing competing stakeholder priorities and influencing decisions without relying on formal authority.

  • Communicating recommendations, tradeoffs, risks, decisions, and complex technology issues clearly and concisely.

  • Leading cross-functional product delivery across business, technology, operations, control functions, and external vendors.

  • Analyzing complex workflows and identifying opportunities for automation, simplification, resiliency, and improved client or trading outcomes.

  • Managing change in complex, business-critical technology environments.

Ability to:

  • Independently own a portfolio of electronic trading products and initiatives.

  • Establish credibility with traders and senior stakeholders through strong domain knowledge, preparation, responsiveness, and sound judgment.

  • Challenge assumptions and stakeholder requests constructively while maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex organizational dependencies.

  • Translate strategic objectives into executable product plans and drive those plans through delivery, release, adoption, and outcome measurement.

  • Make and communicate recommendations when resources, requirements, or stakeholder priorities conflict.

  • Respond effectively to changing trading-desk and production needs while maintaining appropriate focus on committed strategic work.

  • Communicate product vision, execution plans, risks, decisions, and status to both technical and non-technical audiences.
