WHO WE ARE:
We’ve come a long way from our origins as a small startup. Today, we’re a truly global fintech company, with over 3000+ people from 80 nationalities, spread across 22 offices on 4 continents. And we’re growing and diversifying faster than ever before.
WHAT WE DO:
Our card readers are used by over 3 million merchants to process payments in 34 countries. As we build a world where small businesses can be successful doing what they love, we’re continually expanding our range of products and services.
Starting with mPOS in 2012, we now help merchants connect better to their business, customers, and each other through our rich ecosystem of products and services. These include accounting, online shop and payments, SumUp card and account, P2P, loyalty programs, and business analytics—all in one place.
Our vision as a global fintech company is to build the first-ever global card acceptance brand. We rely on local, autonomous, cross-functional teams that can take an aspect of our product and perfect it from concept to execution.
THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL:
We are currently seeking a Senior Product Manager for our Processing domain. Our mission is to ensure the optimal performance of our European acquiring operations and develop a best-in-class payment processing platform. In this role, you will be responsible for managing relationships and setups with acquirers, optimizing performance and costs, and addressing compliance changes to maintain excellence in our payment processing services.
You'll work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and business teams to deliver seamless, secure, and efficient payment processing solutions. Your expertise will help us navigate the complexities of card processing, money flows, and the diverse needs of our global merchant base.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Define and drive product strategy for our card acquiring capabilities, focusing on solutions that improve merchant performance and create long-term value
- Build and maintain relationships with key industry players including Visa, Mastercard, Amex, acquirers, and PSPs to influence roadmap decisions and bring innovative solutions to market
- Own end-to-end acquirer and PSP integrations, managing relationships and setups to optimize performance, cost, and compliance across our European operations
- Partner with engineering teams to shape product requirements, prioritize initiatives, and lead product development from discovery through launch, translating high-level concepts into technical requirements
- Drive data-driven optimization of transaction flows, managing CP (Card Present) processing KPIs and identifying opportunities to enhance merchant payment performance
- Act as the key liaison between external partners (card schemes, acquirers, PSPs) and internal teams (Payment Operations, Risk, Compliance, Hardware, Consumer, Payments Partnerships) ensuring seamless alignment
- Navigate compliance and regulatory changes proactively, ensuring our payment processing platform remains compliant and strategically aligned with market needs
YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE:
- 5+ years of experience in payment processing, with strong expertise in the card acquiring domain and hands-on experience building acquiring-related products
- Deep domain knowledge of acquiring and payment networks (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), including scheme rules, pricing, risk considerations, reconciliation, real-time transaction processing, clearing, and settlement lifecycle
- Strong technical acumen - you understand APIs, system architectures, and can deliver technically complex products while communicating effectively with engineering teams
- Strategic thinking - you can connect technical details to broader business outcomes, balancing short-term priorities with long-term product vision
- Data-driven approach - track record of using data and customer insights to make decisions, run experiments, and measure impact
- Excellent stakeholder management - ability to influence senior stakeholders, build relationships with external partners, and align cross-functional teams
- Problem-solving excellence - you systematically break down complex problems and make good decisions in ambiguous situations where there's often no "right answer"
- Ownership mentality - intellectually honest about your work's performance, relying on data to measure success and continuously striving for improvement
- Fluency in English
AWESOME IF YOU HAVE:
- Experience managing acquirer and PSP integrations from end-to-end
- Familiarity with both card-present and card-not-present processing concepts
- Experience with scheme certifications, audits, and compliance milestones
- Track record of optimizing payment performance metrics and reducing processing costs
- Experience navigating complex organizational environments and driving change
