The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for researching and developing ideas and processes for new products. This position is involved in every level of the system design and support engineering activities related to manufacturing, testing, sourcing and after sales. In this role, the Product Engineer improves upon the performance, design, cost, and quality of existing products and oversees production and packaging of the final product. You work out projects from specifications to final design while providing guidance to product engineers. You prepare the planning; you solve technical issues during the process, and you give advice to the customer and the internal organization.
- Lead, coach, and set standards for a team of product engineers.
- Drive product development using advanced engineering tools (CAD, FEM—static, dynamic, buckling).
- Conduct and review FEM analyses and evaluate 3rd‑party calculations.
- Research market concepts and propose innovative design solutions.
- Design, model, and test prototypes; develop specifications and design briefs.
- Select materials, define performance criteria, and support cost‑effective design improvements.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
- Create detailed 2D/3D documentation and deliver project reports.
- Support testing, product configuration, and spare‑parts documentation.
- Visit suppliers, production sites, and trade fairs to stay current with new technologies.
- Participate in cross‑functional engineering reviews; support patent activities as needed.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent).
- 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience; 3+ years in commercial vehicles or heavy‑duty machine design.
- Strong background in machine building.
- Proficiency with Inventor, SolidWorks, or NX.
- Excellent experimental and analytical skills; strong understanding of static/dynamic structural behavior.
- Strong English communication skills and a proactive, pragmatic mindset.
- Passion for staying up‑to‑date with emerging technologies.
