- Works under minimal supervision, independently determining the approach to mechanical design solutions and conceptualizing and implementing design ideas into the product
- Defines, plans, and promotes product engineering project work; owns the mechanical design of one or more features or products from concept through release
- Applies European mechanical and safety codes and directives, including CE marking, the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), and the Machinery Directive, and harmonized standards such as EN 378 (refrigerating systems safety) and EN 14511 (chiller performance rating)
- Works closely with the design and manufacturing teams to generate layout concepts and system configurations that balance cost, performance, and reliability
- Coordinates and helps execute test programs to validate the performance and reliability of mechanical systems and components; analyzes, designs, modifies, and troubleshoots mechanical sub-components and sub-systems based on test data
- Defines specifications for features and products, and generates and reviews technical documentation for use within the product team
- Guides and mentors less-experienced engineers, and represents the product team within Engineering – able to speak for the team technically, with excellent written and verbal communication
