What you’ll do:
- Design Impactful Product Experiences: Independently drive the design of critical Vumedi initiatives, partnering closely with product managers, engineers, and medical content experts. Deliver user-centric design solutions aligned with Vumedi's strategic goals.
- Lead User Research and Insights: Plan, execute, and synthesize user research, translating insights from community oncologists and clinical users into actionable design improvements. Clearly articulate how the research drives design decisions and product enhancements.
- Iteratively Solve Complex Problems: Lead structured design explorations that balance user needs, clinical accuracy, educational effectiveness, and business objectives. Clearly communicate design concepts, benefits, and trade-offs at all organizational levels.
- Evolve Our Design System: Collaborate proactively to identify, document, and implement enhancements to Vumedi's design system. Ensure consistency, usability, and scalability, helping to shape future design standards and best practices across our products.
Who you are:
- Experienced Product Designer: You have proven success (typically 4+ years) designing engaging, intuitive products—ideally with experience in healthcare, education, or video platforms.
- Collaborative and Proactive: You excel at cross-functional collaboration, proactively managing communication, expectations, and timelines. You’re skilled at resolving challenges and aligning stakeholders around shared goals.
- Research-driven Problem Solver: You're comfortable leading user research and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data into meaningful, actionable insights. Your designs thoughtfully reflect user and business priorities.
- System-Oriented: You have experience contributing to or leading the evolution of a design system. You're passionate about establishing consistency and enhancing the user experience through thoughtful systems-thinking.
- Strong Communicator: You clearly articulate your design decisions and their impacts, confidently navigating conversations with team members at every level—from developers to executives to clinical advisors.
- Self-Aware and Growth-Focused: You actively seek feedback, consistently striving to improve your craft and broaden your impact.

This is a hybrid role, working 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) in our Oakland office.
