Our design team is close-knit and highly collaborative - combining research, data and systems design to inform design decisions that impact and shape products into highly usable and successful experiences.
Grubhub Design is looking for a talented Senior Product Designer to join the Customer Lifecycle Engagement team. In this role, you'll help oversee: (1) Customer Retention : Initiatives aimed at developing and sustaining long-term user relationships; (2) Customer Engagement : Developing personalized strategies to increase user frequency; (3) Customer Activation & Early Life : Develop awareness and activation strategies to convert new users.
As a Senior Product Designer you will guide teams through complex problem spaces and ensure we're solving the right problems with effective and elegant solutions. You'll coach, mentor and encourage designers at Grubhub - helping the folks on the team to deliver their best work and have fun doing it. You are super detail oriented, organized and know how to keep a team moving at pace. Your communication skills are strong and you are able to facilitate and mobilize cross-functional efforts. You have a passion for shipping great design work and your enthusiasm for the work you do gets others around you excited and motivated to deliver.
The Impact You Will Make:

  • Own the user experience of a product from conception until launch with autonomy and authority, crafting visions and facilitating collaborative working sessions to help the teams deliver the best possible solutions
  • Advocate for the user in all design decisions while collaborating with the product, engineering, and growth teams
  • Turn nebulous concepts and abstract ideas into useful, delightful product features
  • Design holistic systems, flows and interfaces that are simple, elegant, and beautiful
  • Draw insights from our talented research team and know how to turn those insights into tangible solutions
  • Evaluates pros and cons, risks and benefits of different solutions, leveraging quantitative and qualitative data
  • Makes thoughtful and data driven suggestions for improvements to existing features, and new features
  • Continually works to grow their understanding of how their domain fits into the work of other teams
  • Proactively communicates status of work with team, manager & partners, requests support where needed
  • Seeks ways to improve processes & practices and contributes these back to the larger design org
  • Provides candid, constructive feedback and critique and proactively seeks feedback without being defensive
  • Develops others through feedback, mentoring

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 4+ years of experience as an in-house Product Designer focused on B2C brands in industries such as eCommerce, technology or multi-sided marketplaces
  • BA/BS required, with a focus on design or human-computer interaction or related field
  • Applied experience working across all digital and physical manifestations of what we design - from responsive web to native applications to the next technological leap
  • Requires little supervision and takes personal responsibility for decisions, actions, and failures, acting with a clear sense of ownership
  • Excellent communication and data visualization skills. You can bring internal stakeholders on your design journey and support your decisions with focus and brevity
  • Understands business objectives to solve highly abstract problems and uncover unidentified ones based on their advanced understanding of UX, information architecture, and interaction design principles
  • A deep curiosity and ability to consider product strategy and vision. You don't just care about "how it looks," or "what we should design," but "why are we designing this at all?
  • Excels in sketching, wireframing, advanced prototyping in Figma and creating presentations to outline design perspective to drive consensus
  • Understands how to leverage a design system to efficiently solve user problems. Provides feedback to improve components and patterns
  • Excels with design fundamentals like grid-based layout, compositional hierarchy, and color use
  • Considers key accessibility principles like color and dynamic type when designing

New York Salary Range: $132,500 - 198,500
The Base Pay component of our Total Rewards package is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: job responsibilities, location, experience and, education/certifications. In addition to the pay component, this role may be eligible for equity and benefits as part of the Total Rewards package. The Total Rewards package will be determined at the time a contingent offer is made.
