Summary Generated by Built In

We’re hipages, Australia’s #1 digital platform connecting households with trusted home improvement businesses. As an ASX-listed tech company, we're on a mission to transform the home improvement industry to build better lives for everyone.

With teams across Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Vietnam, we work as one team with a shared purpose.

We’re proud to be a certified Great Place to Work and WORK180’s #1 Employer for Women. At hipages, you’ll find real impact, career growth and a workplace where everyone belongs.

About the role:

This is a permanent role designing for the Marketplace Experience (MPX) squad — a cross-functional team that partners with our Marketing department to design and build the experiences that help households and home improvement businesses discover, understand and choose hipages, from pricing pages to campaign and acquisition surfaces. Rather than the rapid, experiment-led pace of our growth squads, MPX works in a more considered, end-to-end way: understanding the goal, shaping the right solution, crafting it well, and refining it once it's live. It's a great fit for a designer who takes real pride in polished, on-brand work and enjoys turning a commercial or marketing brief into an experience customers trust.

You'll be part of the squad's triad, partnering closely with your Product Manager and engineers to shape and deliver work — and working just as closely with the Marketing team, who'll be among your key collaborators. You won't be on your own though: you'll be supported by the wider design team and the Head of Product Design, with plenty of room to share your work, gather feedback and keep growing.

Our design community is inclusive, collaborative and supportive. We meet regularly through design huddles and skill-sharing sessions, and we genuinely care about helping each other do our best work.

Why join our Product team?

  • 💻 Hybrid working model
  • 🪴 In-house Talent Development team to prioritise personal and career growth
  • 💸 Competitive salary, benefits and perks
  • 🤸 Cross-functional collaboration
  • 📖Hands-on learning opportunities and workshops for continuous upskilling

How you will add value

  • Lead the experience design for the MPX squad, from early discovery through to polished, implementable designs and post-release refinement.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to turn commercial and campaign goals into clear, considered design initiatives — such as pricing pages, marketing site experiences and acquisition journeys.
  • Shape a thoughtful discovery approach — drawing on interviews, usability testing, concept tests and stakeholder workshops to understand what customers need and turn it into clear, actionable insights. AI tools like NotebookLM help you go deeper and faster.
  • Partner with your Product Manager and engineers in the squad's triad to shape, plan and prioritise work, build alignment, and create shared ownership of what gets delivered.
  • Craft simple, elegant interaction and visual design — leaning on our design system, keeping work consistent with the hipages brand, and adding bespoke design where it's needed.
  • Use AI tools to explore and test alternative concepts, generate inspiration and pressure-test your thinking — we see AI fluency as part of how a modern designer works, and you'll be encouraged to keep experimenting with it.
  • Work with your Product Manager and Marketing partners to define how success will be measured, using data to understand what's working and making sure new experiences are well instrumented.
  • Take ownership of the quality of the experience you deliver — you'll know the relevant user journeys and pain points, and use that knowledge to help steer the team and prioritise what gets built
  • Get to know our home improvement and household customers, and be a genuine advocate for their needs in prioritisation conversations.
  • Collaborate with designers from other squads to keep the experience consistent across hipages.
  • Balance customer experience and business impact with speed and quality.

About you::

  • 4+ years of commercial experience in product or UX design, designing experiences for both web and apps.
  • A track record of being the go-to designer on a squad — you're comfortable owning the design work end to end, getting up to speed quickly and making progress with limited direction.
  • Experience across the full design cycle, from research and discovery through to implementable designs, instrumentation and post-release refinement.
  • Strong craft — you've taken complex information and business logic and made it feel simple, intuitive and polished, with an eye for visual design and brand consistency.
  • You've worked in cross-functional teams or triads alongside Product Managers and engineers, and you're comfortable partnering with non-product stakeholders such as Marketing.
  • You're organised and calm when moving between several initiatives at once.
  • A real interest in using AI tools to work smarter across research, design and concept exploration.

Technical experience:

  • Planning and facilitating user research — usability testing, interviews, surveys and contextual inquiries — and synthesising the findings into insights.
  • Proficient with Figma and other prototyping tools.
  • A good understanding of web UI patterns, plus iOS and Android, since our products span web and apps (built in React Native).
  • Comfortable using analytics tools like Mixpanel to inform and validate your work.
  • Experience designing marketing or acquisition-focused web experiences (such as pricing or landing pages) is an advantage.
  • Experience with two-sided marketplaces or SaaS products is an advantage.

Life at hipages:

We’re more than just a workplace. We’re a place where you can be yourself, do great work and grow your career. Recognised as a Great Place to Work, our inclusive, supportive culture helps people thrive.

You’ll use the best tools and tech, with real impact on our products and customers. We invest in your development and lead with coaching, not micromanagement – it’s why 85% of our team say their leader is great.

And there’s more:

  • Diverse, collaborative teams that love solving problems
  • Agile squads, hackathons, off-sites and roadshows
  • Extra leave for birthdays, volunteering, and more
  • Healthy snacks, continental breakfast and fresh fruit
  • Sydney CBD office near Town Hall and Gadigal Stations
  • Tailored growth support, mentoring and stretch projects
  • A vibrant social scene - we work hard and have fun doing it

We prioritise Diversity:

At hipages, innovation and collaboration thrive in diverse and inclusive teams. We don’t expect you to know everything - we care more about who you are as a person, a team member, and a leader.

We’re proud to be endorsed by WORK180 for supporting women’s careers and we value diversity across culture, age, gender identity and sexual orientation.

Research shows that men often apply when they meet just 60% of the criteria, while women and minority groups wait until they tick every box. If you think you’d be a great fit - even if you don’t meet every requirement- we’d love to hear from you.

We’re also a Circle Back Initiative Employer, which means we commit to responding to every applicant.
