Natron Energy is seeking an experienced Product Design (PD) Engineer to take on the development of Natron’s proprietary Sodium Ion Battery Packs and Power Electronics. As a PD Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical and electromechanical design of Natron’s battery packs and accompanying power electronics. Your team will be responsible for the design of innovative, cost-optimized, manufacturable battery packs and power electronics to be produced at high volume for stationary applications. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and play a lead role in the development of your team’s capabilities.
You will partner closely with Electrical Engineering on the packaging and layout of key electronics, cell Engineering on the specification of the Natron’s proprietary cell, System Engineering in the development of robust requirements, Reliability and Test on the validation of the product, Supply Chain in the optimization of sourcing, and Manufacturing as we introduce our first-generation product into series production. Your team will be instrumental in the development of a high cost-optimized, manufacturable energy storage.
Experience and Skills:
- Communication skills: you will report to the Senior Manager of Product Development, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills, both to leadership and cross-functionally.
- Outstanding engineering fundamentals.
- Knowledge leader in electromechanical product design for series production: concept ideation and evaluation, refinement of product requirements, design release best practice, GD&T and tolerancing analysis, design for manufacturability and assembly, process capability statistical analysis and optimization, and value engineering.
- Direct experience in the development of high voltage (300 – 800 V) electromechanical systems, including creepage and clearance, dielectric isolation, cost-optimized packaging, harness design and routing, laser welding, thermal and mechanical analysis, and PCBA mechanical packaging.
- Strong project management skills: vendor management, milestone identification, and status tracking.
- Familiarity with common manufacturing methods including stamping, bending, casting, injection molding, etc.
- Fluency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM. Solid understanding of bill of material and product lifecycle management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field is preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience preferred but will consider minimum of 3 years of industry experience

- The salary range for this position is a minimum of $154,500 and a maximum of $182,000.
