The candidate in this position will fulfil a critical role in supporting the design, and development of image processing algorithms that factor in physical artifacts, and that affects an advanced imaging system.
The mission is to understand the impact from artifacts of optical, mechanical, electronic or other physical origin and how these affect the resulting image based signal. The successful candidate will be systems-oriented, and will work very closely with multiple functional teams such as the optics, mechanical, electronics, applications and software engineering groups.

The scope of activities will range from guiding the software teams in the development of state-of the art detection algorithms to image artifact fixing efforts.

The successful pursuit of these activities will lead to optimized sensitivity for one of KLA's most sophisticated inspection systems.
Requirements:
-
Prefer PhD or MS or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering (preferred focus on Signal Processing).

Multi-disciplinary Engineering experience with (medical devices, semiconductors, printing, or other).
-
Experience with analysis sources of noise – Spatial and Temporal.
-
Familiarity with computational tools. In particular, signal processing applied to images is a strong plus.

Scripting experience. Preferably in Python and in C
-
Ability to model, simulate and verify against empirical data or in driving empirical validation tests.

Multi-disciplinary vision is very critical for this role. The candidate will engage with the subsystem design engineering owners and map the relation of the noise budgets to the impact to the image signal.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years work experience
Master's Degree with 3 years + work experience
Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years
