More about our mission and what we offer.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced regulatory compliance leader ready to leverage deep expertise in Brazilian financial regulations within a high-growth fintech environment. This is an exciting, hands-on opportunity to work directly with product managers, data analysts, and software engineers to design, launch, and manage fully compliant products tailored to the Brazilian market.
Your Mission
Wise has pioneered new ways for people and businesses to transfer money seamlessly across borders. Our customers can manage their finances through the world’s first platform offering true international multi-currency accounts.
Your mission is to enable our global and local product teams to build, scale, and manage products in Brazil while maintaining an optimal regulatory risk profile. You will serve as the subject matter expert on Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen) regulations, aligning product architecture and operational workflows with regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations.
How You Will Contribute
As part of the First-Line Product Compliance & Risk team, you will:
1. Collaborate on Product Design & Advisory
Partner with Product Teams: Empower product managers and engineers to build risk-based, compliant products, processes, and controls for the Brazilian market.
Regulatory Assessment: Conduct pre-launch and ongoing regulatory risk assessments for local payment products and FX structures.
Translate Regulations into Product Requirements: Provide actionable advisory on complex Bacen rules—including FX Regulation (Res. BCB 277), Payment Institution frameworks (Res. BCB 96), AML/CFT requirements (Circular 3.978), as well as Pix and Open Finance ecosystem rules.
Design Scalable Solutions: Work with cross-functional teams to design customer-centric, scalable solutions that meet statutory requirements without compromising user experience.
2. Manage Regulatory Risks & the Control Environment
Risk Identification: Proactively identify and manage regulatory risks across Wise's Brazilian product suite, encompassing cross-border FX transactions, local currency accounts, and payment rails.
Control Architecture: Oversee the first-line control environment by designing targeted, creative, and automated controls to mitigate operational and regulatory risk.
Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Monitor regulatory changes, updates from Bacen, and industry developments to keep product roadmaps ahead of compliance deadlines.
Management Information: Implement and maintain risk metrics and governance reporting to inform strategic decision-making at regional and global levels.
3. Regulatory Engagement, Audit & Issue Management
Audit & Remediation: Oversee internal and external regulatory audits, challenge findings alongside Second-Line Compliance, and manage remediation plans to resolution.
Regulatory & Partner Representation: Represent Wise in discussions with Bacen and local regulatory bodies, clearly articulating Wise’s product architecture, risk management framework, and compliance controls.
This Role Offers You the Opportunity To:
Drive Impact in a Key Market: Lead compliance strategy for one of Wise’s fastest-growing and most dynamic regions.
Bridge Compliance and Tech: Embed compliance directly into the software development lifecycle, building automated, regulatory-first financial products.
Own Complex Regulatory Challenges: Identify regulatory bottlenecks and take ownership of solution design and execution from concept to launch.
- Deep Regulatory Expertise: Strong legal or regulatory background with extensive experience advising on Brazilian financial regulation and Bacen frameworks.
Specific Knowledge Base: Hands-on experience with foreign exchange operations (operações de câmbio), payment institutions (Instituições de Pagamento), Res. BCB 277, Res. BCB 96, Circular 3.978, Pix, Open Finance and other applicable regulation to the fintech environment.
Product-Minded Advisory: Proven ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, practical, and actionable technical specifications for product managers and software engineers.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Approach: Comfortable leveraging data to evaluate risk, back up decisions, and design pragmatic controls.
Fintech Agility: Experience or strong interest in fast-moving, technology-driven environments working alongside product delivery teams.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Portuguese, with the confidence to represent Wise before regulators and banking partners.
For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.
We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
