Reporting to the Regional Procurement Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering procurement strategies, managing supplier and subcontractor relationships, leading commercial negotiations, and ensuring governance and compliance across the full contract lifecycle.

 

Working closely with operational, commercial, legal, project controls and procurement stakeholders, you'll help secure market-leading outcomes while supporting the successful delivery of essential water infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic procurement decisions, mentor project teams, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement practices within one of Australia's leading infrastructure businesses.

 

Operating in a collaborative environment, this role offers a hybrid working model with a mix of office, site and home-based work while supporting projects that deliver critical services to communities across Queensland.

 

What You'll Do

  • Lead procurement activities from sourcing strategy through to subcontract and supplier award across major infrastructure projects.
  • Negotiate subcontractor and supplier agreements to achieve optimal commercial and operational outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier, subcontractor and service provider relationships while managing performance and risk.
  • Analyse procurement performance, monitor market trends and provide reporting and insights to support business decision-making.
  • Coach and support project teams on procurement best practice while ensuring compliance with Downer governance frameworks and standards.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a commercially minded procurement professional who can influence stakeholders, drive value through strategic procurement and build strong supplier partnerships.

 

  • Proven procurement, commercial and/or contract management experience within construction, utilities, infrastructure, oil & gas or a similar project environment.
  • Experience managing large and complex procurement packages, supplier engagement and subcontractor negotiations.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify, manage and mitigate procurement-related risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Commercial, Contract Management, Finance, Law or a related discipline, with CIPS accreditation highly regarded.

Skills Required

  • Proven procurement, commercial or contract management experience within construction, utilities, infrastructure, oil & gas or similar project environments
  • Experience managing large and complex procurement packages, supplier engagement and subcontractor negotiations
